Congratulations to Leslie Peak, a Special Education Teacher in TECC, for winning one of our Staff Appreciation Celebration challenges! 🎉

Leslie earned a gift card for connecting with the most colleagues outside of her department, stepping out of her comfort zone, and strengthening connections across the Northside family. A little conversation can go a long way in building a stronger Northside! 💙

As we prepare to honor Juneteenth, we reflect on the leaders, advocates, and changemakers who have advanced equity and opportunity for generations.

In this video, Northside President Paula Magnus shares reflections on Northside’s history, leadership, and the lasting impact of the groundbreaking Doll Study—a pivotal moment in understanding how racial bias affects children and the importance of affirming every child’s identity and potential.

For 80 years, Northside has remained committed to helping children and families while advancing a more just and equitable future for all.

Learning comes alive through play, curiosity, and hands-on discovery 🐞🌱

During our “Insect Rescue” activity, children explored textured grass to uncover hidden insects while building early math, sensory, and fine motor skills along the way. Using tweezers to carefully “rescue” each insect encouraged focus, coordination, and problem-solving — all while having fun! ✨

We love creating meaningful summer learning experiences that inspire exploration and imagination every day.

Thank you, Martin, for your leadership and commitment, and thank you to everyone who helps create brighter futures for children and families across New York City. 💙
