Jon Chin, a NYU alumni, started Share Meals in 2013 based on findings that 42% of college students are food insecure and 9% of students went entire days without eating because they couldn’t afford food.

Share Meals is a digital platform where students can share extra meal swipes and post extra food from club events with students who are food insecure. Additionally, they host open community cooking classes, and regularly pack and donate food for fellow students.

Since its founding, Share Meals has been featured on US News and the New York Times. We’re so excited to work them tomorrow evening at 6PM in room UC-19!

For our first N.I.C.E session next Tuesday (9/25), we are hosting Skinno, the only mobile app that scans complicated skincare ingredients labels and translates them into plain English! Skinno provides consumers with accessible and scientifically accurate information about the skincare products that you use everyday. Over time, the app will even customize skincare routines and recommend products to the user based on their specific skin type. It’s clear that Skinno is introducing much-needed transparency to the skincare industry!

Skinno was founded by Lisa Guerrera and Christina Torres soon after they graduated CCNY with degrees in cosmetic engineering and biology. In the early stages of Skinno, the team won the Nestle Skin Health Hackathon! Since then, they’ve received seed funding from the Zahn Innovation Center and are working hard to help more people on their skincare journeys. Come out for a great N.I.C.E session!
