In loving memory of a devoted friend and NYU alum, Marvin Leffler (STERN ’42, ’51). Marvin enjoyed a successful career in manufacturing and real estate before serving three and a half decades as President of the nonprofit Town Hall Foundation, which manages the Town Hall, the well-known Manhattan performance venue and arts center. As a loyal and generous supporter of NYU, Marvin also held various positions at the university such as President of the NYU Club, founding Co-President of the Alumni Federation, Alumni Trustee in 1983, and Trustee Associate in 1993. He also played a prominent role in reporting on the attack on Pearl Harbor in NYU’s student newspaper, The Commerce Bulletin, which was the only college paper to have a first-day story on the outbreak of the war. The NYU community will deeply miss Marvin, who left behind a legacy that will be forever cherished and honored. “You could say NYU shaped both my career and my family life in the best possible way,” says Yakir Arteaga (CAS ’96, DEN ’00), reminiscing about what NYU means to him and his family. Amy Hernandez (CAS ’97, Tandon student) and Yakir, both alumni and now employees at the university, met on the NYC campus in the ’90s, quickly forming a meaningful connection that has resulted in 25 years of marriage (and counting). Together they instilled the NYU spirit in their children—one a recent grad, and the other a current student—raising them around Washington Square Park and Bobst Library, and teaching them that NYU “represents not only academic excellence, but also the diversity, energy, and spirit of New York City.” Read more about this family full of : https://bit.ly/4xm5xoH
