Broadwayâs Kerry Butler she/her - known for her roles in Beetlejuice, Hairspray, and Xanadu to name a few - explains why theatre and the performing arts are valuable *no matter what career path you choose.* Confidence, empathy, and creativity are just the tip of the iceberg.

âWe all sit at the cool kids table⌠and we always make room for more.â -
Thatâs what makes On Broadway different. Every student who walks through the door is stepping into a space where they are respected, supported, and welcomed exactly as they are.
A place where they canâŚ
Ask questions without fear.
Take risks without judgment.
And discover who they are, surrounded by people who get it.
For so many young artists, that moment â finding their tribe â changes everything. And once youâve experienced that kind of support, you carry it forward.
â¨Know someone still searching for their tribe? Send this to them. Where did you find yours? Tell us in the comments.
âI was involved in band and choir when I was in high schoolâŚAnd although I didnât want a career in the arts, that foundation has served me throughout my career as a lawyer, as a producer, and now as a nonprofit leader.â
The arts are more than a path. Theyâre a foundation.
Because what young people build at On Broadway doesnât stay on stage.
They learn how toâŚ
Speak with confidence.
Connect with others.
Show up fully in who they are.
And whether they become professional performers or not, those skills follow them into every room they enter for the rest of their lives.
This is what arts education makes possible.
â¨Know someone who could grow from a foundation like this? Send this to them. How did the arts shape your professional journey? Tell us in the comments.
âOn Broadway is a different kind of program.â Not just because of the talent â though thereâs plenty of that. But because of how these students are held.
Theyâre supported when they make mistakes.
Encouraged when theyâre soaring.
Guided when theyâre figuring out who they are â onstage and off.
Because this is a pivotal time in their lives.
And what makes the difference isnât just training.
Itâs care.
Consistency.
Community that shows up for them, again and again.
That community includes you.
Because every audience, every parent, every supporter â youâre part of that energy they feel when they step into who they are.
â¨Know a parent raising a creative kid? Send this to them. What made a program feel different for you or your child? Tell us in the comments.
âYou need to nurture her talent.â Thatâs what one New York City mom heard from her community when her little girl showed a gift for singing. And when it was time to find the right place to grow, the answer came back again and again: On Broadway.
Since then, sheâs trained, grown, and stepped into opportunities her family once only imagined â including being part of a short film nominated for an Academy Award.
But this isnât just about one student. Itâs about what happens when talent is met with mentorship. When potential is met with guidance. When a young person is given the space to flourish.
The On Broadway program is back. And so are the possibilities.
â¨If your child has something inside them â a voice, a spark, a curiosity â this is where it can grow.

âEven if they donât go into the performing arts, I still want to protect them and encourage them.â
Thatâs the heart behind On Broadway. Because this program isnât just about who goes on to perform. Itâs about who young people become along the way.
When students come to New York City, often from all over the country, they need more than training.
They need community.
Mentorship.
People in their corner.
On Broadway builds that.
Through programs like Dream Connectors, students are paired with working Broadway, film, and TV artists â people who check in, guide them, and remind them theyâre not alone.
For On Broadway alum Nathan Reid, that kind of environment made all the difference. Itâs where he found his people and explored new art forms. He grew not just as a performer, but as a person.
When these young people have the space to discover who they are â and the support to become it â it isnât just the stage that opens up for them. Itâs an entire world.
