June 23, 1963–The Robinson family hosts their first “Afternoon of Jazz” concert at their Stamford, Connecticut home. Tapping Jackie’s connections to jazz luminaries, the family leads a fundraiser for the Southern Christian Leadership Conference.
The concert raises $15,000, much of which was directed towards civil rights organizers on the ground in Birmingham, Alabama.

June 20, 1920–After a long journey from Cairo, Georgia, the Robinson family arrives in Pasadena.
While California offered the Robinsons more opportunities than did their lives as sharecroppers in Georgia, Jackie and his siblings face intense discrimination as they grow up. Here, the extended Robinson family poses in front of the family home at 121 Pepper Street.
