An Original Commedia Dell'Arte Conceived & Directed by Christopher Bayes

A thoughtful and poetic review by Michael Sazonov.
"for the honey, you gotta say when” is both a rollicking ruckus as well as a roving band of beautiful beings, that come to life to dazzle and amaze, and go out like a brief candle in the summer wind. One thing is for certain, it is a powerful testament to both devised theatre as well as commedia dell’arte as a viable art form, and, dare I say, a vital need in the American Theatre. -Sazonov

Thank heavens for good friends and colleagues who support the arts. When making theatre there is always a gap between the cost of the show (labor intensive) and the tickets you sell. Donations from individuals make it happen. Consider being a donor to this production and thereby lifting the show up!

It's been a minute since Even Maybe Tammy in 2009 at The Flea Theater. Some dreams take time. Every year since 2009 I've wanted to transfer the Commedia Project from the David Geffen School of Drama at Yale to New York audiences. It's simply my favorite version of theatre. It's performed in traditional commedia dell'arte masks, written from the heart just last month and with so many original musical numbers you could never fall asleep. I want to share it with you. The brain child of Christopher Bayes as performed by 8 of the graduating actors from DGSD. 11 performances at New York Theatre Workshop in June. Please join us! (show runs 1 hour and a bit)

Gaulier has trained many of my favorite actors. The most playful, the most vulnerable and the funniest of them all.... but this opens up a new conversation.
The Dumbledore of Clowning
The French master teacher Philippe Gaulier has worked with stars like Sacha Baron Cohen. But at 78, are his methods, which include insults, outdated?
