Big news for OLAM Public Charter School! We’re excited to welcome Lisa Strom as our Founding Head of School. With decades of experience in education and instructional leadership, Lisa will help shape a school community where students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. We can’t wait to see her vision come to life as we prepare to open our doors.

Who helps make our community strong? Our Staten Island kindergarteners have been exploring that very question!
From police officers and firefighters to teachers, nurses, and other community helpers, students learned about the people who work every day to keep us safe, healthy, and inspired. Even more exciting, they shared who they hope to be when they grow up.

Through Gotham FC’s Elevate Play initiative (in collaboration with the Laurie M. Tisch Illumination Fund and Playworks), staff, students, and families had the chance to attend the match—and the smiles said it all.
Thank you for creating opportunities that bring our community together and make memories that last! ✨

Jordan Heath came to HLA in 5th grade when his family moved to New York from Jamaica four years ago. As the youngest of five siblings, Jordan quickly became known for his discipline, ambition, and drive for academic excellence.
Inspired by his math teacher, Mr. Mann, Jordan developed a strong love for mathematics, while his growing interest in science shaped his dream of one day becoming a doctor or medical business owner. Guided by his mother’s words — “Hard work always pays off” — Jordan approached every opportunity with focus and determination.
At HLA, Jordan thrived in the structured academic environment, earning consistent Principal’s and Honor Roll recognition. He also took advantage of HLA’s free SHSAT preparation program, which helped him reach an important milestone.
Outside the classroom, Jordan became an active member of the HLA Debate Team, debate tournaments, Jazz Band, and Music Theatre program. In his free time, he enjoys volunteering, helping other students with homework. He also likes reading, coding, and solving brain puzzles.
Everything became real the moment Jordan visited Brooklyn Technical High School for a tour. He immediately saw himself there and made it his goal. And he achieved it.
Jordan earned acceptance to:
- Brooklyn Technical High School
- Midwood High School Medical Science Program
A student driven by purpose, discipline, and curiosity — this is only the beginning for Jordan.
