An amazing night ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿณ

Stirring the pot for vanilla bourbon pudding... cooking is one of my passions. And it's so much fun to do it as a collective!

Cooking is the heart of the home. The way to nourish, connect, and enjoy delicious food! ๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿซ‘

We met on the first day I went to Syracuse. Freshman year. I kept bumping into this woman every place I would go, the book store, the street, orientation, the coffee shop, it was on our 5th encounter that we finally said, oh my god, we need to introduce ourselves.

She was dressed so cool in a red Norma Kamali cape, jeans, sexy boots, and a really great vibe.

Her name was Lisa Krooth.

It was the beautiful start of a 44 year friendship.

Lisa was my friend, my soul sister, my confidant, someone who loved me, and believed in me. Our friendship took us through many years of experiencing life together, celebrations, heartache, pain.

She lived out west in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She is a beautiful soul. She was a lawyer, who then worked for legal aid, always wanting to help those in need and humanity. She wasn't into materials or stuff, yet, man, did that girl know how to shop.

She had amazing taste and a sense of style like no other. Artsy with a Buddha vibe, yet chic and hip. She was really ahead of her time in the way she dressed and wrapped her scarves around her head.

Each home was filled with light and love and art. She brought a beautiful daughter into the world; Bella. She was an amazing mother. She gave Bella a life of values, strength, and what it means to have courage.

I visited them every year for Christmas and to celebrate Lisa's birthday on New Year's Eve. They weren't my family by blood, but they were my family by choice.

Our relationship over the years was very complicated at times, but we never gave up on one another. Sometimes we needed the space to come back stronger, as friends, as two souls sharing from the heart, and holding boundaries for what was right for each other.

There were times I called her at 3 in the morning, and there were times she called me at that hour.

She was that person.

For me and for her.

I valued so much what I learned from her. She studied abroad in Tibet in the Himalayas with the Dolly Lama. Her spirituality transcended space and time. Her wisdom was so deep and wise and loving.

Lisa gave from the heart, always. She was so generous, not only to me, but to those around her and her community. She loved her family so much, through the good and the challenging.
I will miss her, and just today on my walk outside to the water, by my feet, there was a purple feather right on the street. I couldn't help but smile in my heart, as they say, when feathers appear, angels are near.

Lisa, my dear friend, I will love you always and forever, rest in peace.

Love,
Betsy Sue.

A recap of an amazing event I had the privilege of leading for Hanukkah at The Towers at Towerlane! Adopt a Bubby and the Beth Caana Academy for Girls High School joined together for a collaborative event brought to us by The Women of Vision Foundation.

A beautiful event of bringing together women of all ages in community, connection, creativity, and color!

Together, making a project called "Inner Light"- all about connecting and finding the color and inner light within your being, and sharing its message and artwork in community.

We need more enlightening, empowering, inspiring and heartfelt events like this in our world today ๐Ÿ’–

As always, a warm thank you to The Towers at Tower Lane for hosting me and allowing me to bring a sparkle to the eyes of your community through color!

I have been reminiscing a lot about my sister Bonnie since the anniversary of her passing is coming up on September 30th. I canโ€™t believe itโ€™s going to be four years. Time does help, but it never takes that deeply rooted sting away. As I remember my sister, I think of moments when she was really happy.

When she was in Michigan, she invited me to spend a weekend. It was a Michigan vs. Perdue college football game. We were in the stadium, close to 100,000 people. All of a sudden, everyone was doing this wave. A movement from left to right, in blue and gold sweatshirts screaming, โ€œGo Blue!โ€ My sister was happy. She was with someone who she loved. Someone yet to be her husband, but soon to be.

She was in her element at Michigan. Like everyone else Bonnie enthusiastically joined the movement with the crowd. Through my confusion, Bonnie looked at me and said, โ€œCome on Bets, join in the fun!โ€ It was so exciting watching her amongst friends and peers, that I couldnโ€™t resist but following my sister. Doing the wave and feeling the energy. It was something I felt profoundly. It makes me reflect and realize it is something we need in our lives today. Blue is the color of stability, loyalty, and speaking your truth. Itโ€™s calming and it is one of the most popular colors in the world.

Recently I watched the exciting Democratic National Convention, and once again was reminded of the Blue Wave, but in a new way. Seeing the unified convention, gave me flashbacks to the Blue Wave. Amongst this wave stood Kamala Harris and Tim Waltz, who are role models for what the color blue stands for. Stability, integrity, loyalty, the truth. Healing for the people. Whether it's a football game that unites us to support our favorite teams or a convention that brings us together to uplift our future, the group mentality pushes us forward, connecting our souls.

It is so important to harness the energy of color. We need to go blue for our country. We are in need of healing, calming, hopeful days ahead. Going forward let blue allow you to speak your truth and harness healing from within rather than others around you.

If it werenโ€™t for Bonnie, I would have never been privileged to experience the Blue Wave. I am hoping in her memory that I can continue to make waves in all aspects of my life. Whether it is through standing up for what I believe in or guiding others to find their truth, I hope my sister would be proud of me for sharing the Michigan Blue Wave and how much it meant to her and now to me.

Thrilled to share a glimpse of my wonderful Color & Wellness series at The Towers at Tower Lane

Wisdom really does come with age. The life these people have lived is beautiful and inspiring. They know the value of living life to its fullest, and they freely share it with those around them.

It's so much fun to be able to bring out their color, light, and creativity from within โœจ๏ธ

I want to thank everyone so much for being a part of this Wonder Wednesday community. Knowing that you have read these passages and have passed them along to other friends and loved ones, truly means the world to me. If I have touched anyone or broadened your thought horizon, I count it as a mission accomplished. I have been writing for a year and a half after my sisterโ€™s passing, and itโ€™s been a beautiful process to help with the healing and grief of my sister being gone.

I hope that the messages and what I have shared of my heart resonated with you as they have with me.

Thank you for going on this journey with me, and as we bid a gentle adieu to this chapter of my story, I am ever so grateful it happened when it did, with each and every one of you.

Wishing you all a beautiful, safe, Happy Thanksgiving.

Donโ€™t get too sad, because in the New Year I have something really exciting to reveal, and youโ€™ll be the first to know!

All my love,
Betsy
