"Untold Stories", an exhibition by faculty member Russell Hart opens on June 5th at the Sarah B. Smith Gallery at the in Charlottesville, Virginia.
"Untold Stories" incorporates three separate bodies of work:
"Immigrant Story: Ghosts of Ellis Island" is a photographic study of the ruins of the Ellis Island Hospital Complex. "Coffers: The Pathos of Things" documents people’s sentimental items, photographed in the containers in which they’ve been stored. "Taking Shapes: Nonobjective Drawings" is a series of graphite drawings partly based on Russell’s photographs.

Thank you for another insightful and exciting tour of your facilities! We got a behind-the-scenes look at their scanning, archival pigment and UV printing, mounting, framing and crating departments! The students had a blast seeing these processes on such a large scale, and are eager to explore more of these creative techniques in their own work!
