Week 2 of our summer programs have kicked off!

Week One has come to an end!

We celebrated our participants with 3 concerts where they presented their hard work throughout the week with our amazing faculty.

Halfway through week one! We just had our first of four Faculty Artist Series concerts featuring four of our faculty chamber groups.

And we’re off! We just welcomed our participants and faculty for the ProAm and Chamber Music Essentials Workshops.

We started the week with Piano Night, an opportunity for participants to have a masterclass with two of our faculty pianists, Nathaniel LaNasa and Brianna Tang!

All events take place at the Barshinger Center for Musical Arts at Franklin & Marshall College (Lancaster, PA).

Meet 𝐉𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐳, leader of our 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐄𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐬 workshop (June 6–13). Registration remains open thru 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥 𝟏𝟓!

Today we launch a series of F̲r̲i̲d̲a̲y̲ F̲e̲a̲t̲u̲r̲e̲s̲ – check back weekly to learn more about the fantastic folks who make our Summertrios community so special.

For her spotlight, Jill reflects on some cherished memories from over the years:

“I’ve made lifelong friends at 𝓢𝓾𝓶𝓶𝓮𝓻𝓽𝓻𝓲𝓸𝓼. The most rewarding part is always seeing my students improve each session – I love watching the pieces take shape throughout the week, and it’s a special thrill to see everyone grow in community as well as musically.

Piano night is always a highlight, too: Jan [Deats]’s style of teaching is so kind and yet so spot on – I always learn something from her. And [Summertrios co-founder] Lily [Friedman]'s joyous spirit and dedication is ever present. One of my funniest memories is her description of getting a running start to scale the way-too-high mattress that the college provided!

I also love exploring new and interesting pieces at an intermediate level for my students. Recently I've encountered some truly lovely works (a Florence Price string quartet for example) that are technically within the right range, and I keep looking for more!”

𝐿𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑛 𝑚𝑜𝑟𝑒 𝑎𝑏𝑜𝑢𝑡 𝐽𝑖𝑙𝑙'𝑠 𝑖𝑚𝑝𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑠𝑖𝑣𝑒 𝑏𝑎𝑐𝑘𝑔𝑟𝑜𝑢𝑛𝑑:
Dynamic educator and violinist Jill Schultz holds a Bachelor’s degree from City College, a Masters of Music degree from Stony Brook University and an EdD from Teachers College of Columbia University. She has performed with the Goldovsky and Lake George Opera Companies, the New Jersey Symphony, the Stamford Symphony, and the NYC Ballet. She has taught at the Manhattan School of Music, Mannes College, and the Lucy Moses School, and has served as an educational consultant to the Lincoln Center Institute and the Little Orchestra Society. She is currently teaching in the Scarsdale (NY) school district, which, in 2009, was named the Best Community for Music Education by NAMM. Dr. Schultz has just received an award from Live at Lincoln Center for "Outstanding Student Performances" as demonstrated by her student orchestra.
