💜 One person trained can save a life. Imagine a community prepared to act. Today, we are proud to introduce Each One, Teach One: How to Save a Life, a new ongoing initiative from the Elijah-Alavi Foundation in partnership with Good Rhythm CPR. Every year, families experience the unimaginable because someone nearby didn't recognize the signs of anaphylaxis, didn't know how to administer epinephrine, or didn't feel confident performing CPR. We believe education changes that.

Through free Infant & Toddler CPR, Epinephrine, and Anaphylaxis Training, we are empowering parents, caregivers, educators, childcare providers, and community members with the skills and confidence to respond when seconds matter most. Because preparedness shouldn't depend on zip code, income, or profession. Everyone deserves the chance to learn how to save a life.

💜 Teach one person. Reach one family. Save one life. If you would like to support this initiative through sponsorship, donations, supplies, or community partnerships, please reach out to me at [email protected].

Every father’s journey looks different. Some spend their days reading labels, carrying epinephrine and inhalers, memorizing medication schedules, and listening closely for every cough, wheeze, or sign that something may be wrong. Others guide, teach, comfort, and protect in ways that are just as meaningful. Yet what unites fathers is not the challenges they face, but the love with which they face them. It is found in the packed lunches, the late-night check-ins, the doctor visits, the words of encouragement, the sacrifices made without recognition, and the quiet moments of simply showing up. Those seemingly small acts become the foundation of safety, strength, and cherished memories for the children who call you Dad. Thank you for all the little things you do that make such an extraordinary difference in our lives. Happy Father’s Day. 💙

She told the restaurant she had a tree nut allergy. She was carrying three epinephrine autoinjectors. She still didn't come home.

Lianne Mandelbaum, a patient advocate who has spent years studying food allergy deaths, came on the podcast to walk through what happened to a US college student studying abroad in Italy.

Here is what makes this one impossible to shake. She did everything right on paper. She ordered avocado toast and disclosed the allergy. It came back with pesto made from ground cashews, because vegan kitchens often use nuts to replace cheese. She had backup on backup. Her friends were with her. And every single safeguard still failed.

The first injector didn't deliver. She used two more and still didn't turn around. Her friends called for help, and when emergency responders arrived, they didn't have epinephrine on them either. A young woman with the right medication, the right friends, and the right words to the restaurant died anyway, because the system around her had a gap at every layer.

Lianne kept coming back to one thing. Epinephrine first, and fast. Not the antihistamine, not the inhaler, not the steroid pills people reach for because there is still a stigma around the needle. There is no downside to using it early. The downside is all in the waiting. And we treat this disease like a preference instead of what it is.

She put it this way:

"No one should die of a food."

Juneteenth reminds us that freedom delayed is freedom denied, and that progress is born from courage, resilience, and collective action. Today, we celebrate liberation, honor those who came before us, and recommit ourselves to advancing equity for all. Happy Juneteenth. 🕊️❤️💛💚

This journey was not always easy. My son, Sebastin, lives with multiple food allergies and is neurodivergent. After losing his brother Elijah, the thought of sending him back into a school setting felt overwhelming. For a period of time, we chose homeschooling because fear had taken hold of us. We wanted to protect him from a world that suddenly felt uncertain and unsafe.
But over time, we learned to loosen fear's grip. Through our own experiences, education, and the unwavering support of an incredible community, we found the courage to trust again. More importantly, we learned that our goal was never to shield Sebastin from the world, but to prepare him to move confidently through it.
Sebastin has become such a strong advocate for himself. He speaks up about his allergies, asks questions, takes precautions, carries his epinephrine, and understands the importance of keeping himself safe. Watching him grow into someone who is aware, responsible, and confident has taught me one of the hardest lessons a parent can learn: sometimes we have to let our guard down just enough so our children can truly live. Not in fear, but with confidence, equipped with the knowledge, skills, and support we have given them.
I wish his brother was physically here to celebrate this milestone. Sebastin loved Elijah deeply, and he still does. He talks about him often, keeping his memory alive in the most beautiful ways. I truly believe Elijah was there with us in spirit, smiling as he watched his big brother reach another important milestone.
Now Sebastin begins a new chapter as he prepares for high school. I do not know exactly what lies ahead, but I do know this: he has already shown us how resilient, thoughtful, and capable he is.
Sebastin, I am so proud of you. I cannot wait to see what this next chapter brings. No matter where life takes you, know that we will always be here, cheering you on, believing in you, and celebrating every step of your journey.
Congratulations, my son. Keep being exactly who you are. 💙🎓
