There are many ways to be a boy. Here joy and delight in learning are matched by the values of hard work, self-discipline, integrity, and good sportsmanship.

Since its founding in 1883, Allen-Stevenson has been dedicated to providing the very best elementary education for boys, Kindergarten through Eighth Grade, growing up in New York City. An Allen-Stevenson education helps to foster a boy's natural intellectual curiosity about the world, about himself, and about the various communities of which he is a part. The end of the school year marks both a celebration and a new beginning.

During Eighth Grade Closing Exercises, we honored our eighth-graders as they prepared to carry the A-S spirit with them to their new high schools. At Fourth Grade Closing Exercises, our boys bid farewell to Lower Division and looked ahead to the opportunities that await them in Upper Division. During Step-Up, every student celebrated the completion of another successful year and the exciting journey to the next grade.

We are proud of each and every A-S boy as they head into summer with newfound knowledge, strong friendships, and an enduring love of learning.

This week, Allen-Stevenson hosted our third annual Celebration of Learning, highlighting a year of growth and discovery.

The boys proudly took on the role of teachers, guiding their families through their classrooms and sharing their work from the year. They even got a sneak peek at what's to come as they move up to the next grade.

Each year, the event strengthens meaningful connections between students, families, and educators while showcasing the confidence, curiosity, and love of learning that define the Allen-Stevenson experience.

Just keep swimming! 🐟

This spring, our Fourth Grade boys visited the Ward Pound Ridge Reservation to release the brook trout they had raised from eggs since October.

After months of care and observation, the boys proudly released the trout, sending them off on the next stage of their journey.

The day also included time to explore the outdoors, as students enjoyed a nature walk through the reservation before putting their scientific skills to work. Working together, they identified macroinvertebrates found in the stream and learned how these organisms can help scientists assess the health of an ecosystem.

Last week, third-grade boys carried on a proud school A-S tradition with the annual Mr. America pageant!

Taking the stage in front of an audience of families, the boys presented their comprehensive research on all 50 states. Demonstrating impressive public speaking skills and poise, they shared interesting facts (and jokes!) about each state, along with songs and videos.

The morning was a fantastic display of the boys' hard work and growth throughout the year.

Congratulations to all the students, and huge thanks to the classroom teachers and the Performing Arts Department, whose dedication continues to inspire students year after year.

At Allen-Stevenson, "Stand and Deliver" is a foundational part of each boy's educational journey. From third-grade debates and fourth-grade persuasive speeches to classroom presentations and an eighth-grade mock trial, students across grade levels practice communicating their learning and expressing their ideas with clarity and purpose.

Through multiple presentation opportunities, boys build confidence, strengthen their public speaking and communication skills, and learn to share their research and ideas effectively and persuasively before audiences of peers and faculty.

As a culminating project for their Feudal Japan unit, 5th graders transformed their classroom into a Feudal Japan museum.

After researching different aspects of daily life during the period, including samurai culture, religion, art, architecture, and food, students designed and created original artifacts to showcase their learning.

During the museum presentation, students proudly shared their work and taught visitors fascinating facts, bringing the world of Feudal Japan to life through creativity, collaboration, and historical inquiry.
