On our second day in Zanzibar, everything was blue: the sky, the ocean and the Safari

Zanzibar was one of the largest and the last major open air slave markets in Africa. Enslaved people were brought here from as far as west and central Africa and from the mainland. The monument pictured was built to memorialize the people who were brought here. The chains around the sculptures are some of the original chains used.
An Anglican Church now sits on top of what was the market. The church memorializes enslaved people and abolitionists such as David Livingstone. @ Old Slave Market
