Rising Emerging Art

Adrian Ghenie is a Romanian artist, whose work frequently draws comparison's to that of Bacon. The composition of Nickelodeon, pictured here, reminds us, here at REA, of da Vinici's Last Supper, but adds the emotional tone of Bacon's work (one member of our team also wanted to throw a 10% Peaky Blinders feel to the image). No matter how it is characterized, Ghenie is on well on his way to being a durable A-lister.

Maria Kreyn, the daughter of a Russian artist, creates emotive work that makes you wonder deeply about the thoughts of her subjects. With a strong influence from great masters such as Caravaggio and Rembrandt, her work certainly has a depth to it that is particularly surprising, especially given her young age.

Nathaniel Mary Quinn is a fast rising art star whose work we would describe as, "Francis Bacon meets collage." A product of Chicago's inner city, Quinn was abandoned at at the age of 15 and applied himself academically to get a scholarship to a boarding school in Indiana. What comes out on the canvas is a vision that is seared into his visual cortex. His process appears as collage but involves blocking other parts of the canvas out to work on pieces blocks by block. His work attempts to resolve inner conflict from his childhood and, "recreate his family, so that they continue to exist."

Jordan Sokol. A modern day Rembrandt with a splash of contemporary. Classically, trained, his works make us wonder about the peaks and troughs his subjects experienced.
