🚨BREAKING NEWS🚨 UNC Chapel Hill is the latest school to announce that they’re dropping their supplemental essays beginning this fall. This announcement comes after similar recent declarations from Tulane, UGA, and UMiami

What does this mean? With fewer components for students to complete, we can expect to see apps go 📈.

UNC released a statement this weekend and mentioned that students should share their story using the Common App essay, the activities list, and the additional information section. So, those elements remain as critical as ever.

📚 What is demonstrated interest in college admissions?
It’s a college’s way of measuring how engaged you are with their school—and for some colleges, it can play an important role in admissions decisions.
Demonstrated interest can include:
✅ Attending information sessions or campus tours
✅ Opening emails from admissions
✅ Participating in virtual events
✅ Connecting with admissions representatives
✅ Applying Early Decision (where appropriate)
But here’s the important part: not every college tracks demonstrated interest. Some consider it, some don’t, and a few track it extensively.
