Azurite is a soft, deep-azure blue copper mineral with the chemical formula Cu₃(CO₃)₂(OH)₂. Often found weathering near copper ore deposits, it is prized by mineral collectors for its brilliant color and historical use as an ancient paint pigment.
Azurite is a secondary copper mineral that forms when copper-rich fluids react with carbonated water near the Earth's surface. Because of this weathering, it frequently morphs into green malachite over time.
Azurite can be found globally. Some of the world's finest, most lustrous crystal specimens have historically been sourced from the Tsumeb Mine in Namibia, the Milpillas Mine in Mexico, the Bisbee mines of Arizona, and Chessy, France.

Gemological Science International (GSI), one the world’s largest gemological organizations, announced that its system successfully triggered GSI Missing Item Registry alerts, resulting in law enforcement engagement and the confirmed recovery of a stolen engagement ring in Oregon.
A $22,000 engagement ring that was purchased with an accompanying GSI grading report from a regional jewelry retail chain in Oregon was believed to have been stolen during a residential move. Following the theft, the owners had logged the GSI grading report into the GSI Lost & Stolen Jewelry Registry. When the associated GSI report was subsequently accessed by a third party, the system triggered an automatic alert.
GSI’s consumer services team consequently contacted the owners, advising them to notify the police. GSI provided the ring’s owners with full documentation support to the investigation, including GSI records and the GSI laser inscription number on the center diamond of the jewelry piece. The ring was ultimately recovered in Salem, Oregon, approximately 40 miles from where it disappeared, and returned to the owners.

The challenge of identifying undisclosed laboratory-grown diamonds has evolved significantly over the past decade, according to Gemological Science International (GSI), which says the issue now extends beyond detection to broader product integrity concerns across the diamond and jewelry supply chain.
In a recent industry update, GSI noted that ten years ago the primary concern centered on identifying laboratory-grown diamonds that had been mixed into parcels of natural diamonds. At the time, laboratories focused on building scientific capabilities, including acquiring specialized instruments, training gemologists, and establishing screening protocols.

Corals are available in various colors with different hues and shades, including white, red, pink, orange, black, golden, and blue. Precious corals having pink to red hues are valued over other corals due to rarity, color, and durability. Because of their inherently porous nature, and their chemical composition, corals can be easily damaged by heat and extreme temperature changes, or chemicals. Wear your coral jewelry with care, as these gems are prone to scratching, and avoid excessive contact with fluids.
