Our 8th graders took their physics studies on the road for their final class trip to Coney Island! The law of conservation of energy states that energy cannot be destroyed—only transferred. Looking at these photos, it’s clear that the incredible energy of this 8th grade class is going to stay with us for a long time. 🎢❤️

After analyzing the mechanics of roller coasters in the classroom, our 8th grade students got to experience the G-forces firsthand. It was the perfect celebration of hard work, science, and friendship as they counted down the final days before graduation last week. We are so proud of this group and can’t wait to see where their momentum takes them next! 🎓💙

🎓✨ Congratulations to our newly graduated Lower School Bridge Students who will be heading to Middle School next year! We celebrated this incredible milestone at a special Moving Up Ceremony last week. Students delivered speeches in front of a crowd of families, faculty, staff, and peers. They then proudly “crossed the bridge” into Middle School and received their Moving Up Certificates.

Milestones like this are a true team effort. A massive thank you to our incredible Lower School teachers and Dr. Christy Brockhausen, our dedicated Assistant Head of School and Director of Lower School, for their unwavering support, deep expertise, and for creating an environment where every single child can thrive.

The day wrapped up the best way we know how—celebrating these milestones surrounded by the families, teachers, and friends who have cheered these students on every step of the way. We are so incredibly proud of the confidence the students have built, the strategies they’ve mastered, and the unique strengths they bring to everything they do. Middle school, here they come! Go Lions! 💙🦁💛

If Tate is running for re-election, he’s got our vote! 🗳️🍦As Middle School Director for the Day, Tate wasted no time making some major executive decrees, including a dress-down day, games in math class, and the ultimate crowd-pleaser: absolutely NO weekend homework! 📚❌ But the absolute cherry on top? What a truly ✨enchanted✨ evening! Gateway’s incredible Parents Association hosted a night to remember for last week’s Middle School Spring Fling. Every detail, from decor to dessert, fit the “enchanted forest” theme, and the Great Room and Grandstand were magically transformed into a fairyland as students danced the night away. Many thanks to the PA for bringing an ethereal night to Gateway Middle School! 🧚🍄✨

On a picture perfect, sunny day, the Gateway community kicked off our 18th Annual Field Day! Yesterday was all about teamwork, high-fives, and school spirit as our students and teachers cheered each other on from start to finish. Full of games and excitement including hoop races, bucket stacking challenges, soccer, and even post-Field Day popsicles, yesterday was definitely a day to remember. A special thank you to Mr. Perez and Mr. Peña for organizing this event — it takes a great deal of preparation and planning — and thank you to all our staff volunteers for helping to continue this memorable tradition!
