Next stop: Elementary School! 🎓🎒✨

Yesterday, our community gathered to celebrate our Grande Section/Kindergarten students as they wrapped up their preschool years.

Our Head of School Jérémie Bourdon and Director of Preschool Veronica McGivney Park praised the children for their 3 years of curiosity, creativity, and learning.

The ceremony included a touching video made by Teacher Roddy Rapson, beautifully capturing the year of our kindergarteners, heartwarming videos made by students to thank their teachers, and a beloved Lycée tradition: our students placed their school blouses into a bin to symbolize their transition from preschool to elementary school.

With their teachers, the students had prepared a lovely musical performance. Singing with confidence in both English and French, our graduates beautifully displayed their bilingual skills and showed everyone just how much they’ve grown and flourished in Maternelle.

The community also honored our Assistant Tina Quan, who is retiring after anchoring our classrooms since 1992. To celebrate her incredible dedication, the children sang to her, accompanied by Roddy Rapson on guitar.

Mille mercis to the faculty, staff, and families who have championed our GS/K students from day one.

Bravo to the Class of 2038!

From Ancient Egypt to the present day, our CM2 students set out to discover the women who helped shape the history of art through research, storytelling, and “broderie.”

Along the way, they discovered artists, writers, designers, and creatives whose contributions have too often been overlooked. Their journey unfolded in four stages: researching and writing biographies to understand these women's lives and achievements; visiting the Met to encounter their works firsthand; creating embroidered tributes inspired by textile and decorative traditions; and bringing literature to life through tableaux vivants based on works like “Frankenstein” and “Les Malheurs de Sophie.”

At the heart of the project was a spirit of solidarité-community. As families joined students in the classroom for embroidery sessions, this project also became a way to connect generations and celebrate the women whose creativity helped shape cultures around the world.

A special thank you to parents Dr. Yassana Croizat-Glazer and Dr. Josh Glazer for generously sharing their time and expertise. Un grand merci as well to Robin Migot, Aurélie El Hadj, and to Mireille Miller for guiding students through their research and embroidery work. Finally, thank you to the families who joined us in the classroom.

Summer is almost here! ☀️

Today, our CE1/Y1 and PS/Nursery students came together for a sunny picnic on the patio.

With the school year winding down, there was a real sense of excitement in the air as older students took their younger peers under their wing, sharing games and plenty of smiles.

A nice moment of connection and celebration. Bientôt les vacances !

This week, our 4e/Y8 students took the stage for the Joutes Oratoires, a French debating tradition that challenges students to use old proverbs to argue modern dilemmas and today's most pressing questions.

In four rounds of "joutes,” our student debaters tackled questions including:
- Le silence est d'or: In the age of social media, is it sometimes better to stay silent than share your opinion?
- Tel père, tel fils: Do parents have too much influence over teenagers' choices and beliefs?
- On récolte ce qu'on sème: Should internet users be held accountable for offensive posts they made in the past?
- Il faut souffrir pour être beau:Has appearance-related pressure on social media become harmful?

Merci to Mr. McCauley and M. Bouet for their dedication and support in helping students develop their public speaking and debate skills. Bravo to all of our students for their thoughtful arguments, eloquence, and confidence on stage 👏

Félicitations à la Promotion 2026 ! 🎓✨

Yesterday, our community gathered at Alice Tully Hall to celebrate the graduation of our Terminale students, a shared moment of joy marking the end of an unforgettable chapter and the beginning of a new one.

The ceremony brought together families, friends, teachers, and many voices from across the Lycée community, including Head of School Jérémie Bourdon, Head of High School Maxime Dubray, faculty members Xavier de Boissezon, Christopher McCauley, Sébastien Callegari, and Joëlle Reilly, Director of Global Engagement Andrew Stephens, Board Member Magalie Laguerre-Wilkinson ‘89, and Consul General of France in New York Cédrik Fouriscot.

Representing their class, student speakers Laya T. and Zayd A. shared how their Lycée education has empowered them to build their lives: “Cette école nous a appris que nous avons le pouvoir d'être les historiens de nos propres vies."

Several students were honored for their outstanding contributions:

🏆 Corbin Carr HMC Memorial Prize: Dorcas T. & Lucy Lou M.
🏆 Prix de l’Engagement: Chloé S.
🏆 Prix du Board: Aliénor C., Eowyn B. & Jenaï V.

The graduation ceremony was also marked by the moving speech of Director of Elementary School Nadine Kaston. As she prepares to retire after decades of dedication to the Lycée, she reminded graduates of the invisible legacy they carry with them long after they leave: "Ce que vous avez vécu ici ne s'effacera pas. Cela s'inscrit dans vos mots, dans votre façon de penser, dans le regard même que vous portez sur le monde."

Bonne route, chers T’26 ! We wish you the most wonderful adventures ahead, and we are excited to welcome you to the alumni family!

As Jérémie Bourdon highlighted, "les plus belles aventures humaines ne se vivent jamais seuls.”

What a week at the 2026 Jeux de la ZAN!

We extend our congratulations and thanks to all of the students, referees, educators, and participating schools who came together for an unforgettable week at Camp Pontiac. The Jeux de la ZAN once again showcased the energy, commitment, and spirit of the North American network of French schools.

A special congratulations to our Lycée Lynx! We are proud to share that the Lycée finished first overall, with our CM2/Y5 and 6e/Y6 student-athletes earning top honors throughout the competition, including victories in the biathlon and ultimate frisbee.

Beyond the competitions, the Jeux de la ZAN gave students the opportunity to take on new roles and responsibilities. Throughout the week, student journalists documented the experience through interviews, photography, videos, and daily reporting, helping share stories and highlights directly from Camp Pontiac!

Un grand merci to our students, teachers and staff, chaperones, as well as the Ligue AEFE-UNSS en Amérique du Nord and all participating schools, for making this year's Jeux de la ZAN such a success. Quelle semaine inoubliable !

The Jeux de la ZAN are officially underway!

This week, the Lycée is proud to host the 2026 Jeux de la ZAN at Camp Pontiac, welcoming students from French schools throughout North America.

Held annually under the Ligue AEFE-UNSS en Amérique du Nord, the Jeux de la ZAN are a regional sporting event for CM2/Y5 and 6e/Y6 students. Throughout the week, students will take part in ultimate frisbee, biathlon, track & field, and orienteering, while representing their schools and connecting with peers from across the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE).

The week kicked off with an opening ceremony at the Lycée before delegations headed to Camp Pontiac. On Monday, students began with activities focused on teamwork and collaboration before taking on the first sporting challenge of the week: the biathlon. Rainy conditions made for an especially memorable afternoon, as students tackled the course with determination and enthusiasm. Today, the action continues with an ultimate frisbee tournament between schools.

A new chapter for the Lycée ✨

Last week, we launched the school’s 2026-2031 Strategic Plan: "Ponts vers l’avenir - Building for the Future."

Rooted in 90 years of bilingual excellence, the Strategic Plan reflects a shared vision for the future of the Lycée, shaped through three years of reflection and collaboration among students, families, faculty, staff, alumni, trustees, and friends of the school.

Structured in five key pillars, the Strategic Plan focuses on strengthening bilingual academic excellence and innovation; fostering student belonging, well-being and flourishing; cultivating courageous citizens for an interconnected world, empowering educators, and building for the future through an expanded campus.

Looking ahead, exciting new additions – including expanded human-centered STEM and innovation spaces, a new Center for Student Épanouissement (Flourishing) and the Lycée’s very own High Line – will create even more opportunities for students to learn, connect, and flourish.

Thank you to everyone who contributed their time, ideas, and dedication over the past several years to help bring this vision to life.

Special recognition and merci to Dean Amro, who is preparing to step down as Chair of the Board, for his many years of dedicated leadership, service, and commitment to the Lycée. Many thanks also to Trustees Anna Lynn Oppenheimer and Karim Abbadi ’96; Clément Pointillart, Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee; and Charles Hatami, the Lycée’s incoming Chair of the Board.

“Fantastic Beasts” took over the 6th floor gallery last night as Mr. Campanella’s 6e/Y6 classes celebrated a semester of art and design! 🦁

Throughout the spring, students brought their own mythical creatures to life through painting and sculpture, inspired by their own original stories they created in their French and Art classes. Connected across multiple disciplines, this art exhibition explored mythology, ancient history, and literature through both visual arts and creativity.

Every student has a piece on display throughout the month of June. Stop by the 6th floor gallery to discover their work!

Last week our CP/Y1 students dove into the world of "popping” with dancers Pascal Luce and SonYa as a part of our Artist in Residence program!

Inspired by different fairy tales and characters, each class created its own choreography while exploring this dynamic street dance style that originated in the 1960s. From Pinocchio, scarecrows, and Little Red Riding Hood to robots, students got into costume and explored a new style of dance, learning how movement and expression can bring stories to life. Students even helped make some of their own costumes in art class!

Throughout the week, Pascal Luce and SonYa worked closely with each class, helping our young dancers build confidence and develop their choreography in preparation for a special End of Year Show for their families.

Merci to our Cultural Center, teachers, students, and to Pascal Luce and SonYa for this wonderful week!
