⭐️ Last cycle, 9,551 students applied. 798 were interviewed. 128 enrolled. Mount Sinai, like many medical schools, doesn't publish how many applicants it accepts, so every "acceptance rate" you see online is really a matriculation rate.

Imbalanced metrics (high MCAT/low GPA or low MCAT/high GPA) are common and they don't automatically disqualify you. What matters is how your written materials contextualize the gap and make the case for your candidacy.

🦴 More than 1 in 4 US MD seniors who committed exclusively to orthopaedic surgery did not match in 2026. Nearly half of DO seniors didn't match.
🚨 The difference between matched and unmatched applicants came down to a few key factors: research output, Step 2 CK scores, signaling strategy, and away rotations.
⭐️ Matched applicants averaged 23.8 abstracts, presentations, and publications. Unmatched averaged 18.0. Step 2 CK scores averaged 257 for matched vs. 246 for unmatched.
