Article from Garifuna Queens Organization page: Help if you can.
It's not always easy to ask for help. During our trip to Honduras, we were approached by a woman that wanted to know about our Organization. This was the very same day we had the Hot Dog day for the kids in Bajamar, Honduras. I sat down with her and spoke to her about our mission and what have we been able to accomplish so far. She was excited and told us how she was part of an organization years back. As we spoke about what was going on she told us that she wanted us to see a house where a Garifuna woman lived. She told us how she was very concern about her living conditions.

We agreed that we will stop by the next day. The next day around 1pm we stopped by the lady house and she took us to Queen Rosava house. As we approached Rosava house we couldn't believe our eyes and how anyone was living like that in 2016.

We approached this wooden leaning fragile house that seems to be waiting on a strong wind to blow it away. It was unbelievable how a couple and their special needs child lived in there. This house suffered from various malfunctions. The unmade bed was piled high with clothes and household items. It's obvious to see that there's no space in this house and the two beds took up most of the space. We were unable to meet Rosava that day, she was in the near by city of Puerto Cortes looking for assistance. We did speak to her husband who was sitting outside underneath a coconut tree. It was very obvious that he was in no shape to go to work or assist his wife due to his disability. She bears all the responsibilities for the household. Rosava has three kids but only her young son lives with them. Rosava and her family living conditions are very bad and we have vowed to help them.
Our goal is to gather up some funds and build her a decent liveable home in her home town of Bajamar, Honduras. We have been doing our research and with the help of Garifuna Queens Honduras runned by Queen Elsa Colon. We would need to collect $3,000 dollars to buy the material needed and to pay for the labor. We have spoken to several individuals who are willing to help build her home once we get the needed materials. Our goal is to complete her house before December of 2016 for the winter season.
If your loved one lived in these conditions, would you help them? And if you couldn't help them, would you want someone to help them?
This is a reality for a fellow Queen.
If we can get a $1 from 3,000 friends, her life will change.
We need your help.
