Today, we at George Jackson Academy celebrate Juneteenth and honor the legacy of those who paved the way. Happy Juneteenth!

As we continue to wrap up the 2025-2026 Academic Year, we celebrate the faculty and staff who helped make this year what it was but unfortunately will not be joining us in the 2026-2027 Academic Year. GJA cannot thank you enough for your commitment to supporting its growth and mission! We will miss you sevenfold and what you brought throw our doors.

As we round off the festivities in the last week of the 2025-26 Academic Year, we celebrate the 8th grade class with a graduation potluck provided by the families of the incoming 7th and 8th grade classes (previously 6th and 7th graders). Families of the graduates were united in celebration of the hard work their boys have done over the last 3 years and had to opportunity to rejoice as the Class of 2026. Thank you to everyone who had a hand in making this happen.

More End of Year Activities! Alongside Field Day, the boys also had fun getting their Yearbooks signed by the brothers, faculty, and staff. Shoutout to the students who worked on the Yearbook with Ms. Klema and Mr. Tancil, we commend and appreciate all your hard work. Stay tuned for Summer Academy details coming in the following weeks.

Last Wednesday we celebrated Field Day! Students, faculty, and staff all spent the afternoon in Tompkins Square Park hosting and enjoying a variety of different activities from the likes of Basketball Shootout and an Egg Roll Race to a Sponge Bucket Challenge and Tug of War. All around a great day and thank you to everyone for making this happen.

Congratulations to the winners of our Accelerated Readers Program Raffle! While we are happy for the boys who won their prizes, we are immensely proud of every boys' desire to read even without the Accelerated Readers Program (where every 200,000 words read equals 1 ticket for various raffle prizes). From Summer Academy to the last days of school, the boys have their heads in books day in and day out. Special thank you to Mr. Theisen in bringing this to George Jackson Academy.

And the creative journey comes to an end. As we end the 2025-2026 academic year, the 7th grade class developed comic book projects with GJA adjunct art professor .tomonoshi, developing characters, plots, and worlds for their very own comic books. Their creativity knew no bounds, and they were challenged to think out of the box, and did an amazing job. Thank you to Mr. Tomonoshi and Ms. Klema for an amazing 4th year of this special collaboration we have here at GJA, and we're looking forward to year 5!

The last week of the 25-26 School Year! As we count down the last few days of school, part of our celebration of all the hard work the boys have put into their various studies and activities is the end of year Science Expo. 6th, 7th, and 8th graders all presented their various science projects, framed through the Scientific Method, to faculty, staff, and their brothers. A big Thank You to Ms. Lynch, Mr. McLellan, and Mr. Shvartsman and everyone else involved in making this happen.

Happy Friday! Last week, GJA board member Jon Lindsey came by to teach our 8th graders who to juggle, a long time hobby of Mr. Lindsey's and a tradition he was built for a quite a while at GJA. Although the boys didn't get the chance to practice juggling with real balls, they got to use colorful flags to get the technique.

Happy Wednesday! Last Friday we ended our Financial Empowerment Enrichment class, led by board member Mr. Nate Norstrud, with the boys offering financial advice for their esteemed clientele in a series of one-on-one consultations. Our future finance professionals demonstrated expertise in concepts that were new to them just a few weeks prior and offer sound advice for their clients. A big Thank You to Everyone who was involved in making this possible for our boys.
