A tradition to offer support during one of life's most difficult moments.

The Alpha Omega Ceremony is a tradition that invites Hermanas to come together to celebrate the life and legacy of a departed Hermana.

Participation in the ceremony does not require adherence to any particular faith tradition, and it is only conducted with the approval of the family.

This week, Hermanas gathered to honor the life of Lisa Ladeveze-Nelson, H. Ilimitada, and to stand alongside her loved ones in grief and remembrance.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to every Hermana who participated in the ceremony.

Your presence was a beautiful reminder of the strength and endurance of sisterhood.

Members can indicate their wishes regarding an Alpha Omega Ceremony in their member profile. Sharing this information helps future leaders honor your preferences and support your loved ones according to your wishes.

Leadership should be collaborative, supported, and shared.

One of the questions that came up during our last C-Suite Recruitment AMA was about burnout. It's a good question.

We know many of our Hermanas are already leaders in their careers, families, and communities, so capacity and sustainability are priorities.

We are building a leadership structure with stronger systems that make shared leadership possible and keep Hermana wellness intact. No Hermana should feel like they're in this work alone.

C-Suite leadership will also require self-awareness, an understanding of our individual capacity and the boundaries we need to protect for ourselves and the Hermanas serving alongside us.

The goal is not to do everything.

It's to prioritize what really matters and move it forward together.

We're back with Q&A Friday - this time focused on the difference between our Board of Trustees and the national operations team.

The Board of Trustees focuses on the big picture, making sure the Hermandad is set up for long-term success. This includes: guiding strategy and direction, maintaining governance and accountability, and protecting the mission, values, and long-term health of the organization.

National operations, on the other hand, focus on the day-to-day work of running the Hermandad, including: supporting chapters, managing programs and processes (like intake, marketing, and finance), responding to questions, needs, and operational decisions.

A simple way to think about it:

Board of Trustees = where weโ€™re going
National Operations = how we get there

Because of this structure, day-to-day questions and support should go to the appropriate operational directors (AODs).

The Board of Trustees steps in when guidance, oversight, or long-term decisions are needed.

Both roles are essential, and they work together to ensure the Hermandad is both well-run today and strong for the future.
