Since 1971, the Hillel Rogoff Memorial Lecture has gathered some of the most luminous minds in Jewish thought and letters — Elie Wiesel, Robert Alter, Chaim Potok, Dara Horn. Established by Dr. David Mirsky and the Rogoff family, it is one of Yeshiva University’s most storied intellectual traditions.
This year, we are honored to welcome a Stern College alumna to that stage.
began her journey as an English major right here at Stern, and she never stopped writing. Today, her bylines grace the Atlantic, the New York Times, Vogue, and many others. She has taught journalism at Columbia University and returned to teach at Stern, brought home fellowships from the Atlantic and the 92nd Street Y, and built a literary life that is as deeply rooted as it is wide-ranging. This year, she delivers the 2026 Rogoff Lecture on “Attention, Intention, Influence” and we could not be more proud to have her back.
To see a Stern English alumna take her place in this lineage is a moment to celebrate — and a reminder of where great writing can begin.

📚 Attention left-and-right-brained folks! 🧠✨ Research shows that reading fiction activates the same brain regions as real social experiences, building literacy and empathy 🤯
“If we dismiss fiction as unimportant, we fail to recognize one of humanity’s most powerful tools for learning and connection. Stories are not just diversions; they are blueprints for understanding ourselves and each other.”
What are some of your favorite fiction works you’re reading this semester? Feel free to drop a recommendation below. Article link here: https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/parenting-from-a-neuroscience-perspective/202503/the-science-of-storytelling-how-fiction
