Amidst all of the end of year celebrations, last week we learned of the passing of one of Maker’s earliest champions and industry partners, Scott Anderson .
It would be difficult to overstate his impact on our school.
Our understanding of Design Thinking and the 5Ds traces back to Scott. He connected us to educators and industry partners who continue to serve our students today. And when the DOE could not figure out how to build the Makerspace we envisioned, Scott stepped in and helped make it happen. Our CTE programs exist in their current form because of his belief in our students and his willingness to invest in them.
Despite being the co-founder of multiple successful companies, Scott was remarkably humble. He was thoughtful, soft-spoken, endlessly curious, and deeply committed to helping others bring ambitious ideas to life.
He will be deeply missed.
To honor his legacy, we will establish the Scott Anderson Scholarship beginning with this year’s graduating class. Thank you for everything, Scott Anderson and sending love and support to your family.

It’s not only Maker students who engage in project-based learning. Every year, our professional development includes inquiry projects where faculty explore a new strategy or question about their teaching practice. This year we talked about gamification, built websites, let students plead their cases in Grade Court, and much more.
