Hi everyone! šŸ‘‹ My name is Javier Lopez, and I’m a rising senior majoring in Broadcast and Digital Journalism and minoring in Psychology. This summer, I’m interning at NBCUniversal as the first-ever Duopoly Consumer Unit Intern, working with both the Telemundo Responde and Better Get Baquero teams at WNBC and !

Newhouse NYC has been an incredible experience so far. It’s only been three weeks, but I’ve already learned so much about professional networking, connected with amazing alumni, and even saw a show (shoutout COM 350!) to learn the inner workings of theater!

Today I am doing a Takeover of the Newhouse NYC account. Check out the Story to follow along!

For our first Dinner Party of the summer we welcomed TRF alumna Lindsay Singer, Sr. Line Producer at . Students had the opportunity to ask Lindsay questions about her career, learn about her Emmy Award winning work, and get an inside look into some of their favorite HBO shows. Here' what rising senior Katie Zerbi shared about the conversation:

"Lindsay's visit gave me a more in-depth look into an area of communications I hadn't been introduced to before. Hearing about her work was especially compelling. Her career path and current role have allowed her to engage with iconic entertainment names like MTV and HBO Max, and she brought that experience to life by showing us projects she has worked on and walking us through her processes. She also offered excellent career advice, which I appreciated."

Hi! I’m Lucie Glover, a rising senior studying Public Relations . I am currently interning , an entertainment PR agencyāļøā

Coming into the city while growing up was what first inspired me to work here, and I am lucky enough that this dream has become possible this summer with Newhouse NYC! So, spend a day in my life with me to see my commute, some of my work, a Lunch & Learn with the program, and some post work activities. Thanks for tuning in! 😊

On Monday night, the Newhouse NYC students heard from Julianna D’Urzo who runs digital strategy as a creative producer at NewsNation. She spoke to them about her career path, and then shared advice about how to navigate the industry and best highlight their transferable skills when applying for jobs.

The students asked such fantastic questions during the Q&A, and we’re grateful she took the time to stay late to have one-on-one chats with many of the studentsĀ who had additional questions.

The Newhouse NYC Summer 2026 program is in full swing! We are thrilled to welcome back Professor Elissa Cohen & Professor Erik Forrest Jackson, who "accidentally" coordinated their orange & blue for the first day of class. ā šŸ§”šŸ’™

Professor Cohen teaches COM 509: Communications Law in NYC and Professor Jackson teaches COM 350: Diversity in Broadway Theater. We can't wait to see the exciting lessons they have in store for the summer students!

We ended day of orientation with some Black Sesame Tahini Croissants and Blueberry Cardamom Sweet Buns at . Vanilla soft serve was another crowd favorite! 🄐 šŸ¦

This new bakery is dangerously close to the Syracuse University Fisher Center, so it was nice to take a short walk in this glorious weather!

Today was Day 1 of Newhouse NYC summer orientation, and we were excited to welcome all 39 students to the city!

Thank you to Newhouse (and Newhouse NYC) alumni Lukas Gibson (Account Executive at Havas Life New York), Camille Lavoie (Account Supervisor at VML) and Amanda Rosenthal (Writer at NYT Wirecutter) for sharing the best tips for succeeding in the city at our ā€œBecoming a New Yorkerā€ panel. As part of the Maymester program, COM 300 students traveled to the to meet Newhouse NYC alumna, Danielle Villaluna ā€˜19, Senior Manager of Public Relations & Communications. Danielle took students on a tour around the exhibit,Ā ā€œSculpting the Sensesā€, where they could see the craftsmanship from one fashion's most revolutionary designers.

The exhibit featured more than 140 haute couture pieces alongside contemporary artworks and designs, scientific artifacts and natural history specimens, along with a soundscape that created an amazing multi-sensory experience.

As students walked through the exhibit, they were able to talk to Danielle about how her work in PR & Comms. allows her to be involved in the curation and creation of the exhibits and the larger story the museum is telling.

Thank you Danielle for giving our students an unforgettable afternoon of fashion and inspiration!
