Newhouse NYC has been an incredible experience so far. Itās only been three weeks, but Iāve already learned so much about professional networking, connected with amazing alumni, and even saw a show (shoutout COM 350!) to learn the inner workings of theater!ā

Today I am doing a Takeover of the Newhouse NYC account. Check out the Story to follow along!

For our first Dinner Party of the summer we welcomed TRF alumna Lindsay Singer, Sr. Line Producer at . Students had the opportunity to ask Lindsay questions about her career, learn about her Emmy Award winning work, and get an inside look into some of their favorite HBO shows. Here' what rising senior Katie Zerbi shared about the conversation:ā
ā
"Lindsay's visit gave me a more in-depth look into an area of communications I hadn't been introduced to before. Hearing about her work was especially compelling. Her career path and current role have allowed her to engage with iconic entertainment names like MTV and HBO Max, and she brought that experience to life by showing us projects she has worked on and walking us through her processes. She also offered excellent career advice, which I appreciated."

Coming into the city while growing up was what first inspired me to work here, and I am lucky enough that this dream has become possible this summer with Newhouse NYC! So, spend a day in my life with me to see my commute, some of my work, a Lunch & Learn with the program, and some post work activities. Thanks for tuning in! š

On Monday night, the Newhouse NYC students heard from Julianna DāUrzo who runs digital strategy as a creative producer at NewsNation. She spoke to them about her career path, and then shared advice about how to navigate the industry and best highlight their transferable skills when applying for jobs.
The students asked such fantastic questions during the Q&A, and weāre grateful she took the time to stay late to have one-on-one chats with many of the studentsĀ who had additional questions.

As part of the Maymester program, COM 300 students traveled to the to meet Newhouse NYC alumna, Danielle Villaluna ā19, Senior Manager of Public Relations & Communications. Danielle took students on a tour around the exhibit,Ā āSculpting the Sensesā, where they could see the craftsmanship from one fashion's most revolutionary designers.Ā ā

The exhibit featured more than 140 haute couture pieces alongside contemporary artworks and designs, scientific artifacts and natural history specimens, along with a soundscape that created an amazing multi-sensory experience.Ā ā
