Not every child struggles with music.
Sometimes, the method struggles with the child…
Traditional music education doesn’t work for every learner, and that’s okay. The goal isn’t to fit every child into the same system, it’s to find approaches that meet children where they are and help them thrive.
Musicolor Method
Join the global movement transforming music education
Musicolor Method is more than a teaching approach.
It's a global movement dedicated to making music accessible, meaningful, and fun for every learner. I’m Andrew Ingkavet, a composer/musician, who spent a soul-sucking decade making corporate websites until my toddler son asked me to teach him piano. To my shock, I discovered there were no age-appropriate methods and began teaching him by applying a framework from design I call Musicolor Method. My

Children aren’t losing the ability to focus.
They’re being trained not to.
Constant dopamine from screens, endless scrolling, and multitasking are teaching the brain to crave distraction.
That’s why activities like music matter more than ever they train the opposite: focus, patience, and deep attention.
This is Daniel Moss, one of our teachers at the Musicolor NYC academy. 🎹
Just as he has seen the benefits of music extend far beyond musical skills, you can discover what it can do for your child as well.

One of the biggest mistakes in music education?
Focusing on getting children to “play it right” before helping them build confidence, curiosity, and a love for learning.
When kids feel safe to explore, make mistakes, and enjoy the process, they’re much more likely to stay engaged and develop lasting musical skills.
Your music lessons don’t have to be limited to children ages 7 and up.
With the right approach, you can confidently teach younger students, grow your classes, and leave the struggle behind.

Every time a child sits down to play and realizes: I can do this! they’re building something much bigger than a musical skill: they’re building confidence, independence, and a sense of identity.
Sometimes, the greatest gift of music is helping a child discover what they’re capable of.

What if learning could feel like a game? 🤗
Turn everyday objects into a musical adventure and watch your child create their own sound laboratory at home.
The fun part? They’re not just playing hey’re building connections between colors, sounds, and memory.
The best learning happens when it doesn’t feel like learning at all.

If a teaching method only works for one type of learner, maybe the problem isn't the child—it's the approach.
Every child learns differently, and great teaching adapts to those differences.

Debunking Music Myths pt 6: “Learning music is supposed to be hard”
For too long, music education has been associated with struggle. But learning music doesn’t have to mean endless drills, memorizing terms, or feeling frustrated along the way.
When children learn through stories, movement, visuals, and games, they often don’t even realize they’re learning. They’re simply having fun while developing skills that can last a lifetime.
When kids are laughing, they’re learning.
Frustration isn’t always a sign that a child “can’t do it.”
Sometimes it simply means the learning process is asking for too much at once.
When children experience small wins, mistakes stop feeling scary and start becoming part of the learning process.
