1200 calories works for some people' it might - short term for some body sizes. But for the majority of active women, it's below what your body needs to maintain normal hormonal function. Research consistently shows that very low calorie diets suppress leptin rapidly and increase ghrelin - which is exactly why you can stick to 1200 for 10 days and then eat the entire kitchen on day 11

One meal out doesn't undo your progress but panicking after it does.

I call this the balance bank method. Here's what to actually do the morning after a big dinner, a night out, or a weekend that didn't go to plan:

1. Don't restrict. Skipping breakfast to 'make up for it' crashes your blood sugar and triggers cravings by 3pm. You're not balancing the account - you're 'over drafting' it.

2. Get back to a normal, balanced meal. Protein, fibre, slow carbs. Not a punishment meal. Just a normal one.

3. Move your body - even 10 minutes. A walk after your next meal does more for your blood sugar than skipping it entirely.

4. Zoom out. Look at your week, not your last meal. One withdrawal in a week of deposits barely moves the needle.

Your body is keeping score of the whole week. One meal is one data point. That's it.
