🏓 Exciting News for McKinley! 🏓

McKinley Elementary School is proud to be a recipient of the USA Pickleball Serves Grow the Game Grant! Through this incredible opportunity, our students had the chance to learn the fundamentals of pickleball, develop new skills, stay active, and most importantly, have fun while trying a growing sport.

A special thank you to Coach Pemberton for dedicating her time, energy, and expertise to our students and staff. Your passion for the game and commitment to teaching made this experience both engaging and memorable for everyone involved.

Our students wowed the audience with a spectacular rendition of *The Wiz*! Through weeks of dedication, rehearsals, and teamwork, they brought this beloved story to life with incredible talent, confidence, and creativity.

From the memorable performances to the vibrant energy on stage, every student played an important role in making the production a tremendous success. We are so proud of their hard work, perseverance, and passion for the arts.

Elianny Encarnación wins first place in the NBOE Oratory Competition! The dedication that went into achieving this honorable recognition was a result of her dedication and commitment to developing her skills as a speaker. Congratulations Elianny!

Yesterday, at McKinley Elementary School, our young entrepreneurs turned their ideas into reality during Market Day! Students in grades 3–6 proudly showcased their creativity, innovation, and business skills by designing and selling products aimed at bringing joy to others. The energy throughout the building was incredible as students demonstrated teamwork, confidence, and determination while engaging with customers and sharing their hard work. We are so proud of their entrepreneurial spirit and the success of this exciting learning experience! 🌟💡🛍️

We invite all students to wear yellow or red on Monday, June 8th for our Newark Olympics Pep Rally! We will be sending our students athletes off on Tuesday to represent China (& McKinley) at the Newark Olympics!

Students explored Color Theory by creating a Pendulum painted background on a canvas. Some also had an opportunity to paint volcanos and plant Lima Beans.

Los estudiantes exploraron la teoría del color creando un fondo pintado de péndulo en un lienzo. Algunos también tuvieron la oportunidad de pintar volcanes y plantar frijoles lima.

McKinley’s STEAM Academy!
Students used colorful beads to represent chemical bases for DNA and made complimentary base pair friendship bracelets. Then, students solved for dominant alleles using Rock-Paper-Scissors, and created unique phenotypes for monster babies! 👶🏻
