Fun Day 2026

Hawkins Street School’s K–3 students had the wonderful opportunity to meet author Thumblina Newsome! Today our district of Newark Public School generously gifted each student a copy of her book. It was an inspiring experience that sparked excitement for reading and reminded our students of the joy that books can bring.

Hawkins celebrated International Day! Students and staff came together to honor and learn about the many cultures, traditions, languages, and countries that make our school community so special. Through music, food, activities, and presentations, we celebrated diversity, built connections, and embraced the beauty of our global community. We are proud to learn from one another and celebrate what makes each of us unique! Go Hawks!

Hawkins Street School launched our Summer Reading with a fun summer-themed celebration! Students received their summer reading books along with three engaging activities to complete before returning in September. We are excited to keep our students reading, learning, and growing all summer long. We can't wait to hear about their reading adventures when they return.

Hawkins Street School would like to say congratulations to one of our third-grade students - Ariany Santos, from Ms. Palumbo's class. Her outstanding poem and self-portrait were selected as a winner and she is receiving district recognition after reading Who Am I? Through thoughtful writing and creativity, Arianny beautifully expressed what makes her unique. She will be representing Hawkins Street School at this Wednesday’s celebration at the museum. We are so proud of her for representing Hawkins with such talent and heart!

Hawkins Street School would like to share a video collection of pictures from our S.T.E.M. Week. STEM Week at Hawkins Street School was filled with innovation, exploration, and hands-on learning! It has been incredible to watch our Hawks engage in authentic STEM experiences that foster curiosity, critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving.
