Alabama A&M University has received a $600,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Institute of Food and Agriculture to establish a new data science specialization within existing graduate programs in agricultural and bio-environmental sciences that will prepare students for careers at the intersection of agriculture, environmental sciences, data science and emerging technologies.

Alabama A&M University will celebrate the completion of major renovations to two longstanding residence halls with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, June 24, at 10:00 a.m. The event will recognize the transformation of Morris Hall and Stephens Hall, representing a combined investment of approximately $21 million in student housing and campus infrastructure.

Growing up in Mississippi, Cedric Burrell Jr. spent his days exploring the woods and dreaming about protecting the natural world. This spring, he graduated from Alabama A&M with a degree in Forestry. Now, he's starting his career with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, helping farmers and landowners conserve soil, water and wildlife habitats across Georgia.

Alabama A&M University and the U.S. Forest Service will welcome more than 200 students from local summer camps to campus June 17 for the 11th Annual Forestry Fair, a free educational event designed to introduce young people to forestry, conservation and careers in natural resources. The Forestry Fair will take place from 10 a.m. to noon on The Quad and is open to the public.

Alabama A&M University has received a $400,000 Capacity Building Grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture (USDA-NIFA) to expand an innovative workforce and entrepreneurship initiative that uses artificial intelligence, machine learning and virtual reality technologies to prepare Alabamians for career and business success.

As U.S. Space Command expands its presence in Huntsville, Alabama A&M University researchers are helping demonstrate how the University's expertise can contribute to the nation's future defense and space priorities. During a recent strategic briefing between Alabama A&M University and U.S. Space Command, Dr. Chance Glenn Sr., professor of electrical engineering in the College of Engineering, Technology and Physical Sciences, presented research exploring experimental methods for generating spacetime distortions and gravitational wave effects in a laboratory setting.

North Huntsville residents now have a new front door to health care. Alabama A&M leaders joined Huntsville Hospital officials Tuesday to celebrate the opening of Physician Care North Huntsville, the first primary care facility in North Huntsville. The new clinic located at the AAMU Plaza at 4701 Meridian St. will provide primary care services to patients ages 18 and older. The 3,200-square-foot facility includes five exam rooms and one procedure room and will offer annual physicals, preventive screenings, immunizations, chronic disease management, employment and sports physicals, and sick visits.
