Ancient Greece came to life for Highland Hall's 5th graders at the annual Pentathlon!
After a year studying Greek history and mythology, students joined peers from Waldorf schools across Southern California to compete in the five classic events: javelin, footrace, wrestling, long jump, and discus.
More than an athletic competition, the Pentathlon is a powerful example of learning through experience—where history is lived, teamwork is celebrated, and confidence is built through challenge and achievement.

The 8th Grade took the stage one final time before their journey into high school, presenting the Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy You Can't Take It with You.
Through months of rehearsal, students brought complex characters to life while exploring timeless questions about happiness, success, individuality, and what truly matters. More than a performance, the class play is a hallmark of Waldorf education—cultivating confidence, collaboration, creativity, and the ability to step into another person's perspective.
Their talent, dedication, and growth were on full display, making for a memorable and heartfelt production.

In recognition of Disability Awareness Month, Highland Hall's DEI Committee welcomed representatives from Guide Dogs of America for an engaging presentation with our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students.
Students learned how specially trained service dogs support individuals who are blind, children with autism, and those living with PTSD. Through stories, demonstrations, and a visit from a guide dog puppy in training, students gained insight into the dedication, compassion, and teamwork behind this important work.
Experiences like these help foster empathy, awareness, and a deeper understanding of the diverse ways people navigate the world.

An undefeated season and a Division Championship—what a year for Highland Hall's Middle School Girls Volleyball Team!
Finishing the regular season with a perfect 5–0 record, these student-athletes demonstrated determination, teamwork, resilience, and outstanding sportsmanship every step of the way. We are proud of how they represented Highland Hall both on and off the court as they advanced to the SFVPSL playoffs.
Congratulations to an incredible team and season!

What happens when physics, creativity, and problem-solving come together?
After studying the six simple machines and exploring the life and work of Rube Goldberg, Highland Hall's 7th graders put their learning into action by designing and building their own Rube Goldberg machines.
Through hands-on experimentation, students discovered that science is more than formulas and theories—it's an opportunity to observe, invent, test, and refine ideas. The results, showcased at May Faire, demonstrated not only their understanding of mechanics, but also their creativity, perseverance, and ingenuity.

May Faire filled Highland Hall with music, laughter, and the joy of community as we celebrated the arrival of spring.
From the beautiful Maypole dances performed by grades 1–4 to crafts, bubbles, games, live music, and delicious food, the day offered something for every age to enjoy. A special thank you to our talented Parent Band and dedicated Parent Association, whose energy, creativity, and collaboration helped make this beloved tradition such a success.
At Highland Hall, community isn't just something we talk about—it's something we create together.

Our Spring Soiree, " A Night of Illusions," was held in our beautifully transformed gymnasium and was a fabulous evening of illusions and community. We reflected on the alchemy and magic of the Waldorf curriculum and our incredible teachers which fueled our fundraising energy for the night.
The Soiree featured close up magic, a mainstage show, a silent and live auction, and dancing. Parents helped elevate our event as well; Mystic Ali offered tarot card reading, Sara from Flour + Milk sponsored a delicious ice cream sandwich bar, and Wendy with Guayaba Kitchen ensured a nourishing dinner was had by all.
The Highland Hall community raised over 43k for Highland Hall and Waldorf Education, 31k of which has been allocated for an end of year faculty bonus!
