A UNL study of more than 150,000 teen drivers found that driver's education significantly improves safety outcomes: untrained drivers are 75% more likely to receive a ticket, 16% more likely to crash, and 24% more likely to be involved in a fatal or injury crash. Teens who completed driver's ed had fewer crashes (11.1% vs. 12.9%) and fewer violations (10.4% vs. 18.3%) in their first year of driving. Sign your teen up for NSCN's teen driver education and help them build safer habits early through classroom instruction, simulator and behind-the-wheel training. Yesterday, Governor Pillen officially proclaimed June as National Safety Month in Nebraska, highlighting the importance of protecting people both on and off the job.
Eric Koeppe, President & CEO of NSCN, discussed the importance of safe driving behaviors, including: always wear a seatbelt, never drive impaired, drowsy, or distracted, and stay focused behind the wheel. Governor Pillen reinforced this message and emphasized the need for a primary hands-free driving law.
With transportation incidents remaining the leading cause of workplace fatalities in Nebraska, roadway safety is more important than ever. For free safe driving resources during National Safety Month, visit: https://nedrivingconcern.org/.
