South High School

South High is saddened to hear of the passing of former principal Joyce Christensen. We extend our deepest condolences to Mrs. Christensen’s family and loved ones. Her impact on South High will be felt for generations to come.

South High will be closed Friday, June 19th, in observance of Juneteenth.

A huge thanks to Cassidy (Lee) Crowley, Class of 2015 and her husband, Jesse, for the large donations of formal dresses to South High this past spring. Cassidy held a clothing drive and encouraged her clients at her place of business to donate the dresses. Several South High students will benefit from this donation. Thank you for giving back, Cassidy!

This week (6/15–6/17), the Luvabulls Dance Team attended UDA (Universal Dance Association) Dance Camp and came home with the following awards: 3rd Place in Home Routine, a Blue Ribbon for their Performance Routine, three Pin-It-Forward Awards, the St. Jude Spirit Stick, the Super Spirit Stick, and the 110% Trophy. Congratulations to the Luvabulls on an outstanding week!

Congratulations to our very own Samantha Koehler-Overton (now Mrs. Gilliland), Educators Rising teacher and sponsor, on being recognized as an honorary captain during this afternoon’s College World Series game.

Today was Teacher Appreciation Day at the CWS, honoring educators who inspire, guide, and shape the future. Congratulations, Mrs. G!

Congratulations to 𝐃𝐲𝐥𝐚𝐧 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐧 on being named the 2025-2026 Nebraska Boys Soccer Gatorade Player of the Year. Each year, this prestigious award recognizes student-athletes who demonstrate Athletic Excellence, Academic Achievement, and Exemplary Character.

By earning this award, Dylan becomes the third South High boys soccer player to receive this honor, joining 𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐞𝐥 𝐉𝐚𝐢𝐦𝐞 (𝟐𝟎𝟏𝟒) and 𝐄𝐝𝐰𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐢𝐬𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐬 (𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟏).
