A hands‑on science course at UNO has developed into a near‑space research collaboration. Students in Derrick Nero’s class design experiments capable of withstanding –40°C temperatures and altitudes of 100,000 feet, work that prompted University of Nebraska at Omaha- Department of Biomechanics researcher Yury Salkovskiy to test advanced nanofiber materials on these flights.

Wrapped up another great year of Golden Circle Lunch Bunches with Dr. Paul Denton, who shared his journey to UNO and the significant research and expertise he brings to the Department of Biology. 🧬

Golden Circle remains one of our longest‑running programs — a chance for alumni, retired faculty, and staff age 65+ to stay connected, learn what’s new at UNO, and spend time with fellow Mavericks and longtime friends of the university.

We look forward to coming back together on Aug. 7 for another year, featuring Dr. Louis G. Pol, author and former dean of the UNO College of Business Administration. 📚
