From now until September 4th, our incredible K-8 students are invited to dive headfirst into an epic summer reading adventure. The goal? Read and track 12 books of their choice!

Once they cross the finish line, they’ll be recognized nationally with:

📜 A personalized achievement certificate

🔖 A special commemorative bookmark

🎁 A special link to claim an exclusive prize!

We are excited to announce that "Reading Rocks!" has been selected as our reading theme for the 2026-2027 school year! This will tie perfectly into our overall school theme, "Rockin’ in the '80s."
If you would like to purchase a reading spirit shirt and have it ready for the first day of school, please place your order using the link below by June 12th.

Important Note on Deadlines: The District will be closing the fiscal year as of June 12th, and all pre-orders must be submitted prior to this date. While sales will reopen at the start of the new school year, orders placed then will not be delivered until early September.

This summer, Orange County Public Schools Food & Nutrition Services is touring your city to offer meals at no charge to children and young adults 18 and under. You can find these mobile lunches at many of our branches all summer long! Lunches are served Monday-Friday. 🥪🍽️

The OCPS Mobile Lunch Vehicles are part of the USDA Summer Food Service Program, Summer BreakSpot. Lunches will only be offered to children and young adults 18 and under. Meals must be consumed on the premises. This institution is an equal opportunity provider.

Lunch is served Monday-Friday, June 1, 2026 - July 24, 2026. No meals will be served on Friday, July 3.

We would like to wish Jeanne Hierholzer a very happy retirement! Jeanne dedicated 36.5 years to teaching and was an original Sunrise staff member, helping open the school 28 years ago.
When asked about her favorite memories, Jeanne shared that there are simply too many special moments to choose from. She says, “I have enjoyed my Sunrise family — staff, students, and parents.”
In retirement, Jeanne plans to travel and go camping!
Congratulations on your retirement, Jeanne. We will miss you at Sunrise!

We want to wish a staple at Sunrise, Barbara Case, a happy retirement!! Here is her message:

It is bittersweet leaving my “2nd home” at Sunrise Elementary!

I started teaching at Sunrise when I moved to Florida in the year 2000. My first year there were over 1400 students on our campus! We had 34 portables in back of the school just to have enough classroom space for everyone! While things have changed over the years, the one constant has been all the wonderful people I have met along the way. Sunrise is truly an amazing place!

I will miss my PreK students. I love seeing them grow and get ready for their future school years! Their sweet smiles and embrace of learning has been a joy to watch!

My retirement will begin with unsetting the alarm clock 😊 followed by travel up north (back home to New York State), some home improvement projects, and a lot of rest, recuperation and enjoyment!
