From a dear Sister:
Jai Sita Rama Friends.
π
Is the challenge a doorway?
*Why was the Gita delivered amidst a war?*
Have you ever calmly considered...
why the Gita was delivered right in the middle of a war?
It could have been shared in a peaceful ashram.
In a cave in the Himalayas.
In the serene atmosphere of deep meditation.
A place free from dust, weapons, or the conflict of relationships.
If Krishna truly wanted to reveal the mysteries of life,
he could have taken Arjuna far away from all that.
But that is not what happened...
When the Gita was delivered, the battlefield was set.
Conch shells were blowing.
Dust was swirling in the air.
One's own kin stood on the opposing side.
And the moment of decision had reached a critical juncture.
Why?
Because the deepest understanding of life
is not born in tranquility.
It is born when we are shattered from within.
As long as everything runs smoothly,
we feel no need for the Gita.
We are busy.
We are full of self-confidence.
We think, "I can handle this."
But at some point, life creates a situation
where our self-confidence wavers.
A relationship breaks.
A decision goes wrong.
A business falters.
Health deteriorates.
Or a question suddenly arises from within:
"What am I really doing?"
"Is anything truly within my control?"
That moment is the battlefield.
For in that moment, we are caught between two things:
Duty and emotion.
Self-respect and compassion.
Fear and responsibility.
And that is when the Arjuna within us pauses.
He does not run away.
Nor is he ready to fight.
He simply pauses.
This pause is crucial.
Because it is in that pause
that the momentum of the ego slows down. The belief that "I am in control" begins to waver.
And in that space,
a different kind of clarity emerges.
That is the Gita.
The Gita is not merely a scripture.
It is an inner clarity
that arises amidst the chaos.
When the mind is utterly confused...
When making a decision seems impossible...
When loss looms on every side...
That is when we become truly honest for the first time.
And in that very honesty,
the Krishna within us speaks.
That is why the Gita was not spoken in an ashram.
It was spoken on the battlefield.
For the true lessons of life
are not learned when there are no problems.
They are learned
when we recognize our own limitations.
Doesn't this happen in our lives, too?
A situation arises
where moving forward is difficult...
turning back is impossible...
and standing still feels unbearable.
That very moment
is our Kurukshetra.
Yet, we view that moment as a curse.
We ask, "Why is this happening to me?"
"This shouldn't have happened."
But perhaps, that moment is not a curse.
It is a doorway.
Conflict does not mean failure.
It is a moment of inner awakening.
It tells us
that old understandings are no longer enough.
It is time to look deep within.
So, do not avoid conflict.
Do not run away from it.
Do not simply view it as an enemy.
Because...
life's deepest understanding
is always born in the midst of battle.
Now, ask yourself quietly:
What battlefield currently stands before you in your life?
Are you running away from it?
Or are you ready to stand your ground on that battlefield
and listen to the Krishna within?
Perhaps your Gita
is waiting for you right there.
