🎉Baby Bookclub sneak peek! This week, pick a pair of sunglasses at sign-in!
As you play, help your child look for a friend wearing the same color. 👀🔎When you find a match, pause and practice:
* saying hi
* introducing yourselves
* using the word see
Try phrases like:
* “I see blue!”
* “You have red sunglasses!”
* “Hi, my name is ___.” Work on social communication, color recognition, and core vocabulary in this ice breaker! Register now for bookclub Wednesday at 5:30pm, through the link in bio Alissa Hall M.S. CCC-SLP or at https://app.acuityscheduling.com/schedule/43563f97

🗣️💁♀️In therapy, parents often ask why their child is having trouble labeling colors or remembering color names.
Before children can say color words, there are many important skills developing first 🎨🌈

When you hear these sound errors, it’s natural to wonder…
💭Is this something my child will outgrow?💭Should we wait and see?💭Should we have already started speech therapy?💭My child receives services at school—do they also need private therapy?
If your child is still mispronouncing certain sounds beyond these age ranges, it may be their way of telling you they need extra support 💞
🗣️A simple speech evaluation can help determine whether your child’s sound patterns are developmentally expected or if extra support would be beneficial.

One of my favorite reminders as a speech-language pathologist: communication doesn't just grow during story time or structured learning activities—it grows through movement, play, and exploration, too.
When children climb, balance, crawl, jump, pretend, and explore their world, they're building so much more than motor skills. They're strengthening attention, body awareness, imitation, problem-solving, social engagement, and the foundations for language.
The good news? You don't need elaborate activities to support development. Everyday moments—playing at the park, walking on a curb, building a fort, dancing in the living room, or reading a favorite book together—create meaningful opportunities for connection and communication.
Play matters. Movement matters. And those small moments together add up in big ways.
