Starting school is an exciting milestone, and there are so many simple things families can do at home this summer to help their child feel confident and ready for success on the first day.

Our Pre-K and Kindergarten Readiness Guide highlights important skills that will help your child thrive, including independence, social skills, early literacy, fine motor development, and math readiness.

The best preparation happens through everyday activities:
📖 Read together every day
🧩 Practice using scissors, crayons, and puzzles
👟 Encourage independence with dressing, packing a backpack, and opening food containers
🗣️ Talk, listen, and learn together
🔢 Practice counting, shapes, colors, and letter recognition

Every small step helps build confidence and prepares your child for a successful start to their school journey. Together, we'll be Making Waves in Learning as we prepare our newest Dolphins for an amazing school year!

Lawhon Elementary is excited to welcome our new counselor, Mrs. Herrera, to the Dolphin family!

We are thrilled to have her join our team and support our students, staff, and families. Her passion for helping children grow academically, socially, and emotionally will be a wonderful addition to our campus.

It was great to see our Dolphins today! Thank you to those that were able to come out. We look forward to seeing our Dolphins and their families at our next Summer Reading on July 7th at Avalon Terrace at 10:00 am.

We will hold our 1st Summer Reading at Lawhon Elementary tomorrow June 16th from 10-11am.
