The University of West Florida joins the nation in honoring Juneteenth. In observance of the holiday, UWF will be closed Friday, June 19, and will resume normal operations Monday, June 22.

⭐ Alumni Spotlight - Dr. Nick Jackson (BSBA '06) ⭐

UWF alumnus Dr. Nick Jackson is making a lasting impact across Northwest Florida where he has combined his UWF education with a passion for service, helping strengthen regional resilience through collaboration among nonprofits, businesses, faith-based organizations, and emergency management leaders.

As CEO of BRACE (Be Ready Alliance Coordinating for Emergencies), he leads disaster preparedness, response, and long-term recovery efforts for communities in Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties. Dr. Jackson was also recently appointed as Treasurer/Board Member of the Florida Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD). BRACE was a recipient of an IMPACT 100 Pensacola Bay Area grant in 2025.

Dr. Jackson credits his undergraduate education at UWF with giving him a strong grounding in organizational leadership, strategic thinking, and ethical decision-making—skills that have proven essential in nonprofit executive leadership. “UWF prepared me to think holistically about organizations,” he said. “From finance to operations to people, those lessons show up constantly in the work we do at BRACE.”

In addition to his leadership in emergency management, Dr. Jackson is a pastor, author, and advocate for families navigating trauma. His recent book, "From Faith to Faith: Parenting Through Trauma", offers encouragement and practical guidance for parents facing life's toughest challenges. Through every role he serves, Jackson continues to embody the spirit of leadership, compassion, and service that defines the UWF community.
