Miss Lucia DeJesus
Lucia Maria DeJesus has been a wonderful part of the Assumption Catholic School community, known for her kindness, patience, and hardworking spirit. Throughout her two years at ACS, Lucia has been involved in many activities including Ukrainian Dance, Senior Drama, Culinary Club, Student Council, Choir with the Sisters, Karaoke Club, Chimes and Show Choir, Bulldog News, Recreation, Sodality of Mary, Scrapbook Club, Math Survivors, Anime Club, and Service Club. Outside of school, she also participates in her Church Choir.
Lucia loves to dance, enjoys writing, and hopes to one day become a writer. She consistently shows grit, determination, and creativity in all that she does. We are proud of the thoughtful young woman she has become and know she will continue to shine at Mother Seton Regional High School.

1. What was your favorite class trip you’ve taken at ACS?
My favorite class trip I’ve taken at ACS was my seventh-grade trip to the theater to watch the new Lilo & Stitch.
2. Looking back, what would you tell your Kindergarten self?
Looking back, I would tell my kindergarten self to never let anyone stop you from being who you were meant to be and to remember that you are special in every way.
3. What will you miss most about ACS?
What I will miss most about ACS is the “family feeling” I experienced here, as well as the time I got to spend with my peers both during and after school.
4. When you graduate, what do you want to be remembered for?
When I graduate, I want to be remembered for being a fun person, sharing memories with others, and being a loving friend.
5. When did you feel most proud to be an ACS student?
I felt most proud to be an ACS student when I started helping Mrs. Shumny around the school. It made me feel like I was officially a part of ACS.
6. Who made your school experience better, and how?
My principal, Mrs. Shumny, made my school experience better because she was always welcoming and always had a positive attitude toward me!
6. Who is your hero or someone you truly look up to?
My hero, and someone I truly look up to, is my mom because she has always inspired me to be the best version of myself. Watching her overcome so many challenges has taught me strength, self-dignity, and the importance of always being yourself.
7. What is an accomplishment you are most proud of?
An accomplishment I am most proud of is being inducted into the National Junior Honor Society.
8. What advice would you give your future self?
The advice I would give my future self is to never give up, keep pursuing your goals, and continue being yourself.
9. What do you hope to accomplish in high school, or what are some of your goals for the future?
In high school, God willing, I hope to achieve highest honors, which would result in receiving a yellow stole at graduation, becoming valedictorian, and getting accepted into Ivy League schools such as Harvard University and Princeton University.
10. What is something you learned outside the classroom at ACS?
Something I learned outside the classroom at ACS is to be grateful and appreciative. I realized that every day — especially after school — is an opportunity to love and serve others instead of complaining about having to stay.
11. What was your favorite grade level and why?
My favorite grade level was eighth grade because, although there were many challenges throughout the year, it was a year of becoming, bonding, and most importantly, fun.
12. What does success mean to you?
Success to me means never giving up, giving your best effort, and accepting your imperfections.
13. What moment made you feel the most confident?
A moment that made me feel the most confident was when my mother told me that I “have it all.”
14. What values are most important to you?
The values most important to me are honesty, charity, and confidence.
15. If your class had a theme song, what would it be?
If my class had a theme song, I think it would be the “Make It Shine” theme song from Victorious because our class shares the closeness and “make it shine” spirit of the characters.
16. If your life were a book, what would the title be?
If my life were a book, it would be called The Life of a Thinking Girl because I daydream a lot, and thinking is my “inner world.”
17. What is a hidden talent you have that most people don’t know about?
A hidden talent that most people don’t know about is that I can dance.
18. What is a quote that inspires you (and who said it)?
A quote that inspires me is: “Whatever you don’t fix in eighth grade, you’re going to take with you into high school,” by Mrs. Pickering.
19. If you could meet any person, living or dead, who would it be, and why?
If I could meet anyone, living or dead, I would meet Saint Thérèse of Lisieux because she has always inspired me through her humility and love for God.

Last night was an unbelievable night for the Class of 2026 aboard the Cornucopia Cruise Line! 🚢✨
Students danced the night away, celebrated together, and created memories that will last a lifetime on their final night together as a class. The evening was a wonderful reflection of the unity, friendships, and school spirit that make the Class of 2026 so special.

Mr. Luis Santos, Junior Honor Society, Student Council, Algebra I Honors Class at St. Thomas Aquinas, High Academic Honors
Luis Santos joined Assumption Catholic School in fifth grade on September 2, 2023, and quickly became an important part of the ACS community. During his time here, Luis participated in Service Club, Chess Club, Karaoke Club, History Club, Ukrainian Dance, Board Game Club, Basketball Club, Sewing Club, and Track. Outside of school, he also enjoys playing basketball. His spirit for involvement in clubs and activities, along with his consistently positive attitude, has been truly amazing to witness.
As part of the 2026 ACS Track Team, Luis proved himself to be an outstanding long-distance runner. In eighth grade, he consistently placed at meets and impressed coaches and teammates alike with the grace, determination, and sportsmanship he showed during every race. His positive attitude and dedication made him a wonderful representative of ACS athletics.
Luis is also known for his beautiful personality, patience, and kindness. Many of the younger students look up to him, and he is always willing to lend a helping hand. He can often be found as one of Mrs. Shumny’s top helpers, always ready to assist with a smile. Luis has truly left a positive mark on the ACS community, and we know he will continue to do great things at St. Thomas Aquinas High School.

1. What is your favorite subject at school and why?
Gym, because it’s the only subject where I can really do what I want and interact with my friends.
2. Looking back, what would you tell your Kindergarten self?
Don’t beg for a phone and just act normal.
3. What advice can you share with the 7th graders as they prepare for their last year at ACS?
One thing: be good with your teachers and do your work.
4. What is something you learned outside the classroom at ACS?
During basketball rec and after-school programs, I learned how to work with teammates.
5. What was your favorite grade level and why?
My favorite grade level was fourth grade because I loved all my teachers, and we had so many activities like sports tournaments.
6. What career do you think you might want to pursue in the future?
The career I want to pursue is engineering — either computer engineering or robotics engineering.
7. Who is your hero or someone you truly look up to?
I look up to the science hero Nikola Tesla.
8. What do you hope to accomplish in high school, or what are some of your goals for the future?
I hope to accomplish a great technological discovery or achievement.

10. What does success mean to you?
Success means living a nice and peaceful life with God and happiness.
11. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I see myself as an engineer and a skilled computer tech person.

What advice could I give to a person who is more experienced than me and who will surpass me in my current knowledge?

ACS introduces: Road to Graduation: Class of 2026
Mr. Andrii Hrad, Jr. Honor Society, Academic Honors, Student Council President, Algebra I Honors St. Thomas Aquinas High School
Andrii Hrad has been a valued part of the Assumption Catholic School community since joining ACS in 3rd grade in 2019. Throughout his years here, Andrii has been actively involved in Drama, Service Club, 3D/STEM Club, and Student Council. Outside of ACS, he participates in Ukrainian Dance, Tae Kwon Do, and is an Altar Server at our Parish.
Andrii will always be remembered for his incredible performances in ACS plays, where he consistently amazed audiences with his talent and stage presence. He is also known as a voice of reason among his classmates — someone who encourages others to step up, work hard, and do their best. Andrii approaches everything he does with honesty, determination, and a strong work ethic. He gives 110% each and every day, and it clearly shows through his positive attitude, leadership, and outstanding academic success.
We are proud of the young man Andrii has become and know he has a bright future ahead at St. Joseph by-the-Sea High School.

1. What is your favorite subject at school and why?
My favorite subject is definitely Math because it always came easy to me. Even when I was younger, both in Ukraine and America, Math was always my best subject since I was never really good at spelling.
2. What accomplishment or project are you most proud of from your time at ACS?
I am proud of the fact that I got into the Junior Honor Society and was also voted Student Council President.
3. What was your favorite class trip you’ve taken at ACS?
My favorite class trip was the Hersheypark trip. It was definitely one of the most fun trips we had. My friend and I got to hang out, and I also went on a big ride that I thought would not be that horrifying, but I got proved wrong very fast.
4. What is a challenge you overcame during your time in school?
I learned how to speak English, and now I can speak quite well. I don’t really have too much of an accent anymore, except my friends say I sound a little bit British.
5. What is something you learned outside the classroom at ACS?
Something I learned from my mom is to “live your dream and think about what you want, not what someone else wants.”
6. What was your favorite grade level and why?
7th grade because Ms. Perez made that year bright!
7. What kind of friend do you hope to be remembered as?
As a kind and helpful friend.
8. If you could describe your ACS experience in one word, what would it be?
The word would be “Dream.”
9. If you could relive one day at ACS, which would it be?
Definitely the day we went to Hershey Park. It was really fun!
10. About Yourself and Looking Forward
What career do you think you might want to pursue in the future?
I want to become an engineer.
11. Who is your hero or someone you truly look up to?
My mom and dad are truly my heroes.
12. Name one place you would like to visit and why?
I would like to visit Tokyo, specifically Shibuya, because I have heard a lot about that place and seen the beautiful sights.
13. What is an accomplishment you are most proud of?
Earning my place in the Junior Honor Society.
14. What do you hope to accomplish in high school, or what are some of your goals for the future?
I hope to get into the National Honor Society in High School. I have a lot of goals.
What are three words that describe you?
Kind, helpful, artistic.
15. What is something new you want to try in high school?
I want to try playing school sports like basketball, lacrosse, and baseball.
16. What does success mean to you?
Being successful means accomplishing my dreams.
17. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I see myself creating robots and inventions that will make the world a better place.
18. What is one goal you have for the next year?
To keep getting good grades.
19. What’s the silliest thing you’ve ever done, or what’s your favorite corny joke?
The silliest thing this year was when Nicholas and I were making a chair for the nurse’s office. When we went to bring it there, I pushed Nicholas while he was sitting in the chair, and then Ms. Perez saw us and started laughing.

Mr. Jason Nogueras, ACS student since Pre-Kindergarten, Algebra I Honors student at St. Thomas Aquinas High School
Jason Nogueras is one of the original members of the Class of 2026, having been part of the Assumption Catholic School family since Pre-Kindergarten. Throughout the years, Jason has participated in Senior Drama, Karaoke Club, and Service Club, while also faithfully serving as an altar server.
Jason is known for his bright personality, respectful attitude, and ability to make people laugh, even during the most stressful moments. He shares a special bond with his teachers and especially holds a special place in Mrs. Shumny’s heart because of his sense of humor and the way he could always lighten the mood when it was needed most. Jason’s kindness and respect toward others have made him someone teachers and classmates truly appreciate.
Above all, Jason deeply loves and values his family, and that care and loyalty shine through in the way he treats others every day. Watching him grow from a little boy in Pre-K into the young man he is today has been a joy for the ACS community. We are proud of all he has accomplished and know he has a bright future ahead at Christian Brothers Academy.

1. What is your favorite subject at school and why?
My favorite subject is Math. I think this because I love solving problems, especially hard ones. Math is just so enjoyable sometimes, and it feels really good when I finally finish my homework or solve a difficult problem.
2. What accomplishment or project are you most proud of from your time at ACS?
I am most proud of the cereal box project I did in 6th grade.
3. What was your favorite class trip you’ve taken at ACS?
My favorite class trip was probably the trip to Hersheypark. I had so much fun going on the rides and hanging out with my friends.
4. Looking back, what would you tell your Kindergarten self?
“You’re a good kid, y’know that.”
5. What advice can you share with the 7th graders as they prepare for their last year at ACS?
Make sure not to procrastinate. It makes your school life and home life so much harder than it needs to be.
6. What will you miss most about ACS?
I will miss the close-knit community that makes up the school. I won’t know anyone going to my new school.
7. Who made your school experience better, and how?
All of my friends and teachers who support and surround me here at ACS!
8. What was your favorite grade level and why?
7th grade was my favorite because Ms. Perez was a great teacher, and I had so much fun in school.
9. What is one thing you would change or improve about your time at ACS?
I would try to focus harder on my work. I often tend to stray away from a task and end up doing it last minute or late.
10. What kind of friend do you hope to be remembered as?
The kind of friend who cares about his friends and treats them like actual friends, not items or tools.
11. If you could describe your ACS experience in one word, what would it be?
Extraordinary.
What career do you think you might want to pursue in the future?
12. I want to pursue technological engineering in the future and create technology for companies and personal use.
13. Who is your hero or someone you truly look up to?
The person I look up to most is my mom. She constantly works so hard for me and always provides everything we need. She does so much for me, and that’s why I look up to her.
14. Name one place you would like to visit and why?
I’d like to visit Japan. I’ve always been interested in Japanese culture, and their food is delicious!

15. What is an accomplishment you are most proud of?
The accomplishment I’m most proud is th of is getting into Christian Brothers Academy with a $23,000 scholarship.
16. What do you hope to accomplish in high school, or some of your goals for the future?
I hope to build my first circuit board because I really want to make robots and do cool things with technology.
17. What are three words that describe you?
Funny, charismatic, and brainy.
18. What is a skill you want to improve in high school?
My work ethic is a skill I would like to improve on in high school.
19. What is something new you want to try in high school?
I want to get into robotics and make my own robots. I think that’s really cool.
20. What does success mean to you?
To succeed, to me, means holding yourself to your own standards while also meeting the world’s standards. Be happy while succeeding, and don’t waste your time doing something that doesn’t inspire you.
21. What is one fear you want to overcome in the future?
I would like to overcome my fear of heights. This fear has always been present in my life. Roller coasters have always been terrifying to me, and overcoming this fear would be great.
22. What values are most important to you?
The value of true friendship. Some people say they are friends when they really aren’t. I value the care and respect friends put into one another.
23. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I see myself building all sorts of technology and making a lot of money after my college years.
24. What is one goal you have for next year?
One goal I have for next year is to get all A’s on my report card in high school. It’s a bit of a stretch, but I think it’s possible if I work hard enough.
25. What advice would you give your future self?
Keep pushing forward and never stop striving for greatness.
