When we understand the pelvic variations, we understand how space can be changed easily with only subtle movement - 🔑 for balancing rest with progress 💁🏼♀️
As a perinatal movement educator, one of the most common questions I get is “But how am I supposed to move in early labor when I’m also supposed to rest?” 🧐
It may seem tricky but when you understand what EFFECTIVE movement looks like during labor and , it becomes super simple 👌🏽

There is research to support upright and side-lying positions as awesome options for and there is evidence to support frequent position changes as beneficial. 💁🏼♀️
The reality is that the best position for birth can vary from person to person and even moment to moment so keep changing it up through the whole second stage! 💃🏽
It’s all about knowing how to move in a way that is where the baby needs it. 👌🏼
This knowledge allows for an individualized approach to supporting labor progress 💃🏽and THAT’S when we see outcomes really improve.

Active involvement in decision making means assessing information and risk and benefit from all angles. 🧐
When only approaching information from one perspective it can feel scary and overwhelming. We can better manage challenging decisions when we look at it from different vantage points. 👍🏼
When making an evidence based decision, weighing out all angles of info and talking with a trusted care provider and then figuring out what feels most aligned to your preferences allows for individualized care.
