Congratulations to Chip O’Connell ’02 on his retirement from the United States Navy after twenty years of service.
Chip recently celebrated the milestone with his wife, Elizabeth, their children, Jack ‘38 and Catherine, and family, friends, former shipmates, and mentors at the Museum of the American Revolution in Philadelphia. Looking back on his career, he says that he is grateful for the many people and experiences that shaped his journey and credits the Prep with playing a significant role along the way.
Thank you for your service.

In your hands, O Lord, we humbly entrust our brothers and sisters. In this life, you embraced them with your tender love; deliver them now from every evil and bid them eternal rest.
Welcome them into paradise, where there will be no sorrow, no weeping or pain, but fullness of peace and joy with your Son and the Holy Spirit, forever and ever. Amen.

Jesuits East is sharing a devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus from June 4-12. The first reflection is by Fr. Phil Florio, S.J., St. Joseph's Prep Class of 1983. Each day, there will be a different reflection, including one by our own Fr. Steve Surovick, S.J., Senior Director of Mission and Ministry, filmed in the Sacred Heart altar of the Church of the Gesu.
From Jesuits East:
Draw closer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus this month with our Novena Video Series June 4-12. Spend a few minutes each day in prayer and devotion. Daily reflections will be offered from Jesuits and lay colleagues throughout the USA East Province.

Last weekend, we were happy to welcome back members of the Class of 1976 for their 50th Reunion Weekend. Over those three days, many stories were swapped (many were actually true!), friendships were renewed, and laughter filled the room. The group also remembered those classmates who have passed on.

Today, we held our annual Golden Hawks Mass and Luncheon, honoring those men who graduated 50+ years ago. We also inducted the Class of 1976 as Golden Hawks, as they celebrate their 50th Reunion this weekend, which includes joining the Class of 2026 at Baccalaureate Mass and Commencement.
The Golden Hawks heard from President John Marinacci, Vice President for Advancement Betsy Courtney, and incoming Student Council President Jonas Mersch '27.
As President John Marinacci said to the Alumni, "Once a son of Mother Prep, always a son of Mother Prep!"

We are so grateful to have Armand Della Porta '73 at the Prep as part of our Mission and Ministry Team. Armand, a former President of the Alumni Association and a former St. Joseph's Prep Trustee, is at the Prep through the Ignatian Volunteer Corps and has been essential in working with Campus Minister Katie Longto to help students complete their Ignatian Service Hours.
The Ignatian Volunteer Corps (IVC) Philadelphia/South Jersey offers adults in their “encore years” the opportunity to serve local nonprofit organizations that support people in need.
From food pantries and shelters to education and elder care programs, IVC Volunteer Corps Members help extend the mission and reach of these trusted organizations, offering their time, talents, and hearts to serve those in need.

The Prep Network is one of the best parts of a St. Joseph's Prep education. Here is one example: Drew Bergman '12, supporting fellow Prep Hawk Chris Johnson '11 at a fundraiser for Johnson, who is running for a seat in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. This weekend, members of the Prep A4 Alumni Association are also volunteering to help Johnson get out the vote.
