The Cecil B. Moore Pathways Award is named for Cecil B. Moore, the Philadelphia civil rights leader, lawyer, and public servant who spent his life clearing the way for others. We give it to non-instructional teammates who do the same, the people whose leadership creates the conditions for students, alumni, teachers, and families to do their best work.

The Constance Clayton Award for Excellence in Teaching is named for Dr. Constance Clayton, the first Black Superintendent of the School District of Philadelphia. Every year, each of our schools selects one lead teacher whose work shows up in both classroom practice and student outcomes. 🍎

On Thursday, you crossed the stage at The Met Philadelphia in front of the families, teachers, and school communities who helped carry you to this moment. What moved us most was the pride on your faces, the quiet certainty that comes from knowing exactly who you are and what you are ready for.

Commencement is one milestone in a long continuum, and every step along the way mattered to get you here. Each one shaped the Portrait of a Graduate we see in you today: capable, growing, and ready for what comes next.

A special thank you to our keynote speaker, Speaker of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives Joanna McClinton (Rep. Joanna McClinton), whose words challenged and inspired our graduates as they step into what comes next.

Closing out the school year on a high note 🎶✨

Last Thursday, June 4, our students at KIPP West Philadelphia Preparatory Charter School took the stage for the Orchestra and Band Spring Recital in the Perelman Theater at the Kimmel Center.

It was a beautiful celebration of their hard work, growth, and talent, made possible through another incredible year of partnership with Ensemble Arts Philly and The Philadelphia Orchestra.

So proud of our young musicians and grateful for everyone who continues to support this program. Here’s to another great year of music, learning, and community!
