Sens. Markey, Capito, Reps. McGarvey, Rutherford Reintroduce Legislation to Expand Access to Educational Services for Students with Communications Disabilities | U.S. Senator Ed Markey of Massachusetts 06/11/2026

Mark Richert, Head of International Programs at Overbrook School for the Blind, was cited this week as a principal architect of the reintroduced Alice Cogswell and Anne Sullivan Macy Act, a bipartisan federal legislation that would strengthen IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) and expand educational services for students who are blind, visually impaired, or deafblind.

This is the work OSB has always done, on campus and beyond.

OSB's historic 26-acre campus is beautiful this time of year. 🌸

For our students, spring on campus is something experienced with every sense. The smell of flowers along the walkways, the warmth of the sun, the sounds of rustling leaves and classmates enjoying the outdoors.

This campus has been a home to our students for generations. We are so proud to share it with our community, and grateful to everyone who helps keep it thriving.

Pastries. Games. Art. And a whole lot of love!

Yesterday, OSB families came together for Pastries with Parents, and it was exactly what the end of the school year calls for. Parents and their students filled the fieldhouse for games, made art side by side, and shared some really good food together.

This is what community looks like at Overbrook. We are so glad you were here. 💛

This year's graduating class of Overbrook School for the Blind. 🎓

These students have worked hard, grown so much, and earned every bit of what comes next. We could not be more proud of them.

As we celebrate this milestone, we're also asking our community for something important. OSB is in the final days of our fiscal year, and right now, every gift made before June 30 will be matched up to $100,000.

That means your donation goes twice as far for students just like the ones you're seeing in these photos. If OSB has ever meant something to you or your family, this is a wonderful moment to give back.

Husky Pawlooza Day last week was full of arts and crafts plus games and activities for OSB students. With guidance and encouragement from their teachers, students used assistive art equipment to create their own colorful paintings and played games like Connect Four and Corn Hole.
