Good Afternoon, Families -

The School District of Philadelphia has announced that the schools in the district with inadequate cooling, including C.W. Henry, will shift to virtual instruction for tomorrow, June 5.

Please see below for important information regarding the virtual learning day:

Students should log onto their homeroom Zoom Link at 8:45am for a morning meeting and to receive their asynchronous assignments for the day.

Mr. Tuffs and I will be available via ClassDojo chat from 8:30-9:00am tomorrow to help families who have difficulty getting online. Please send either of us a private chat and we will respond right away.

In alignment with School District of Philadelphia expectations for the virtual learning day, students will engage in asynchronous assignments for each of their subject areas. Teachers will hold a Zoom morning meeting for all students and Zoom office hours that students can join to receive additional support with assignments. Students can also email their teachers or send them a message via Google Classroom if they have any questions.

Your child’s teacher will communicate any additional information via their ClassDojo page.

As was announced earlier today, our Spring Festival has already been rescheduled to Tuesday, June 9.

Good Morning, Families -

Due to the forecasted high temperatures for tomorrow, we are proactively rescheduling our annual Spring Festival to our back-up date of next Tuesday, June 9.

In accordance with the School District of Philadelphia’s Extreme Heat Response Procedures, there is the potential for a virtual day or half day tomorrow based on the current forecast. You can read more about those procedures here: https://www.philasd.org/inclement-weather-policy/

While no decision has yet been made on school for tomorrow, we are rescheduling the festival in order to give our school community as much time as possible to adjust plans accordingly. The Spring Festival is always one of the highlights of the school year, and it’s important to us to make sure the experience is as special and fun for our students as it always is.

We thank all families and students in advance for your flexibility and understanding in the decision to reschedule. If you signed up to volunteer for the event, you will be hearing from a member of the PTA shortly regarding next steps.

Please reach out with any questions. I will update you as soon as possible regarding any school opening decisions for tomorrow made by the school district.
