Today, the Class of 6266 walked across the stage and into their future with dignity, excellence, and Imhoptien Pride!

There is no graduation even close to an Imhotep graduation; it is filled with celebration, cultural heritage, and pride. From the powerful processional to the celebration of their achievements, our scholars showed the world what Imhotep is made of. Dressed in white and traditional African attire, they represented our African-centered STEM legacy with grace and strength.

We are incredibly proud of every graduate — especially our history-making academic standouts:
• Latief Lorenzano White, our Valedictorian
• Leah Jenkins and Cyril Woodland, our Co-Salutorians — a first in Imhotep history!

We are also proud of our three standout award winners:
• Amari Alexander earned the Associate Principal Award
• Latief Lorenzano White earned the Principal Award
• Cyril Woodland earned the CEO Award

Special thanks to Mama Dr. Jury Segers, our Principal, Baba Dr. Ira, our Associate Principal, Baba Andre Noble, our CEO, and the entire Board for being present and pouring into our scholars today.

Nubia VII: you have made your families, your school, and your ancestors proud. The future belongs to the Imhoptians!

We have to stop asking students:

“What do you want to be when you grow up?”

And start asking:

“What problem will you help solve?”

At Imhotep STEM, we believe education is bigger than grades, test scores, and memorization. The future belongs to young people who can use their knowledge to improve lives, strengthen communities, and create solutions for real-world challenges.

This was never just a service trip.

It was our students applying STEM, innovation, leadership, and compassion to make a tangible impact. Research continues to show that students learn more deeply when learning is connected to real experiences. When young people can see the direct impact of their work, education becomes meaningful, memorable, and transformative.

This journey was proof of what we have always known: our students are capable of changing lives, building stronger communities, and leading the future.

None of this would have been possible without the incredible village standing behind them.

Thank you to the Philadelphia Eagles, OKB Hope Foundation, Cooper University Health Care, PASHi, Just Better Men Foundation, Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, Sword of the Spirit Church, Nouryon, Women’s Encouragement Breakfast, Know Your Worth, The Lashon Foster Foundation, Baba Massie & the 9th Grade Team, Dr. Vierria Foundation, our amazing parents, and every individual who donated medical supplies, baby supplies, footwear, and resources to support this mission.

A very special thank you goes to the family and legacy of Uncle Dave Davis. Although he passed away in December, he made it known that he wanted to support this initiative. His generosity, even in his final wishes, is a reminder of what it means to invest in the next generation. We are deeply grateful to Sheliah and Vincent for ensuring his wishes were fulfilled.

We also extend our gratitude to the Lakesha Weeks Foundation, Anthony Terrell, Tyler Accoe, Hstylze Hair Studio, Kendall Northington, Tracey Northington, Diamond Talley, AbdulKarim Payne, Mary Hooper, Antoinette Adams, Bernadine Robnett, Aaron Brown, Samirah Ramsey & the Ramsey Family, and Jermaine Edwards & PA Roofing.

Huge thank you to our project developer and visionary Director of STEM, Posey. To our parent liason and CommunityDeborah Toney-Mooreoney-Moore, our STEM advisors: Ayinde Jenkins, Coach Kev Norris, Coach AB, and Mama Mary Shore. To our CEO, Baba Andre Noble, and all of our school leaders!

This is what happens when a community believes in its children.

They don’t just discover who they can become.

They discover the power they already have to change the world.ian orj

Yesterday, our 11th grade scholars brought fire, vision, and excellence to the stage in a powerful Shark Tank-style business pitch competition!

For the last six weeks, these young Songhai VII entrepreneurs worked with The Business Center through their Rites of Passage class, turning ideas into real business plans. They presented in front of local community leaders and were judged on innovation, presentation, and planning.

We are especially grateful to our principal, Mama Dr. Jury Segers, for creating and supporting these transformative opportunities for our scholars. Her leadership continues to open doors and elevate our Imhotepians every single day.

Congratulations to our Top 3 Winners:
🥇 Matthew Smith (Tep Track Star ) — 1st Place with FBM Captures (Photography Business)
🥈 Torrell Brown (Lead STEM Ambassador ) — 2nd Place with AquaNova (Water Filtration)
🥉 Daiana Lee (Mock Trial Co-Captain ) — 3rd Place with Here2Hear (Mental Health Initiative)

We are so proud of every 11th grader who stepped up and showed what Imhotep scholars are made of. The future is bright!

Special thanks to and all our community judges for pouring into our young leaders.

Yesterday, our young kings had the opportunity to sit down with Meek Mill for a powerful conversation about gun violence, growing up without a father, and rising above circumstances.

Meek kept it real, sharing his journey, his lessons, and his truth in a way that connected deeply with our scholars. Moments like this remind us why we do this work: to pour into our young people and help them build stronger futures. A huge shoutout and special thanks to G. Lamar Stewart for making this visit possible and bringing this impactful experience to Imhotep. We are truly grateful for all that you do!

Last night, Imhotep was proud to open the doors of the Andre Noble Gymnasium to the community as we hosted Mayor Cherelle Parker’s Budget Town Hall.

From 6–8 PM, residents, families, and leaders came together for important conversations about our city’s future. Mayor Parker stayed an extra hour afterward, generously answering questions and engaging directly with our community.

Special shoutout to Imhotep’s C.O.Y.A.L. Student Council President Kyair Sloan, who delivered a powerful, confident introduction and represented our scholars with excellence and poise.

We are grateful for the leadership of Principal Mama Dr. Jury Segers and the entire Administration Team for opening our space, uplifting our voices, and staying deeply connected to the community we serve. Thank you also to for choosing Imhotep and showing the community what partnership is all about.

Yesterday, we proudly sent off our incredible STEM Ambassadors and staff to Ghana for a 10-day international learning experience. What took place today was more than a send-off. It was a moment of connection, culture, and community. Surrounded by families, scholars, and supporters, our Imhotep village gathered to honor a journey rooted in identity, history, and purpose.

This experience represents an opportunity for our scholars to deepen their understanding of who they are, where they come from, and how they move forward in the world. Through this journey, they will engage with global perspectives, cultural traditions, and real-world learning that extends far beyond the classroom.

As they step onto the soil of Ghana, they carry with them the pride of Imhotep, the strength of our ancestors, and the love of a community that stands firmly behind them.

This is what it looks like when education, culture, and purpose come together.

Safe travels to our scholars and staff. We look forward to all that they will learn and bring back to our school community.

Imhotep was proud to welcome the Neubauer Fellows from the Philadelphia Academy of School Leaders for a cross-school visit this week.

It was an honor to open our doors and share our Imhotepian culture, our commitment to STEM education, and the intentional work we are doing to accelerate scholar learning.

More importantly, this visit created space for meaningful dialogue with equity-driven leaders who are deeply committed to improving outcomes for young people across our city. The insights, feedback, and collaboration from this experience will directly strengthen our next steps as a school community.

We’re especially grateful to our incredible Principal Mama Doctor Jury Segers, whose leadership continues to create spaces where reflection, collaboration, and excellence thrive. We also want to recognize our STEM Director, Mama Shirley Posey, for helping showcase the depth and impact of our STEM programming. We also thank the Philadelphia Academy of School Leaders for cultivating opportunities like this that bring visionary leaders together.

This is what it looks like when leadership, purpose, and community align.
