Sunshine, fresh air, cool winds, and time with friends: The perfect way to start a Monday.
Our young learners enjoyed a beautiful day outdoors, making the most of the open field through play, exploration, and connection. Outdoor play is far more than a break from the classroom; it helps children develop coordination, problem-solving skills, independence, and meaningful friendships. It also encourages curiosity, resilience, and a lifelong appreciation for the world around them.

How did our young learners stay cool during the heat while playing outside? They made use of shaded areas on the playground, ensuring they kept sun exposure low while still enjoying active outdoor time.
Safe outdoor play is essential in early childhood because it protects children’s health, helps regulate body temperature, and supports sustained engagement in learning through play. When children learn to balance activity with rest and shade, they build awareness of their bodies and develop healthy habits that last beyond the classroom.

Our young cyclists are making the most of a warm summer day outdoors riding their bicycles on our bike track, soaking up vitamin D, staying hydrated, and building essential early learning skills along the way. Every ride strengthens hand-eye coordination, sharpens spatial awareness, and helps develop a natural sense of direction. Moments like these are foundational for early childhood development, supporting confidence, independence, and healthy growth through movement and exploration.

Happy World Bicycle Day! 🚲
With the beautiful weather finally here, our children have been enjoying more time outdoors, especially on the bike track. Riding bicycles is not only a fun activity, but also helps children develop balance, coordination, and important gross motor skills.
Outdoor play gives children a chance to be active, explore their environment, and take a healthy break from classroom learning before returning refreshed and ready for new discoveries. There is nothing better than seeing them learn, grow, and have fun along the way!

Today, on Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.
Their sacrifice is a solemn reminder of the cost of freedom: One that can never be repaid, only remembered with gratitude and respect.
May we take a moment of reflection, hold space for their memory, and honor the legacy they leave behind.

We are beyond excited for our young learners on Move-Up Day as they officially take the next big step into kindergarten! 🎓✨
Today, we’re celebrating every child across our FELS Centers, especially at Lassin and Paley - including the young learners supported through our Head Start and Pre-K Counts programs, which help provide children and families with access to high-quality early learning and support.
Watching these students grow, learn, and shine has been such a joy, and we cannot wait to see all the places they will go next. Their journey is only beginning, and the future is brighter because of them.

Our young learners at Lassin enjoyed some fresh air with a calm game of catch, sitting together and rolling the ball to one another while staying cool and hydrated during the warm weather. ☀️💧
Outdoor play supports social development, coordination, communication, and confidence, but making safe adjustments during high temperatures is just as important. Choosing lower-energy activities and encouraging hydration helps children stay healthy, comfortable, and engaged while continuing to grow through play and connection.
