Black women in the higher education community need a variety of resources and networks to foster their professional development and advocated for their presence and prosperity in the academy.To help meet that need, in 1978, thirteen visionary women meeting in Albany, New York founded the Association of Black Women in Higher Education, Inc.(ABWHE).

Earlier this month, the sisters of ABWHE GNJ stepped away from the busy rush of life for a “Purposeful Pause.” This sacred time was dedicated entirely to connection, rest, and collective renewal. Every moment offered a chance to reset through heartfelt conversations, the warmth of the sauna, quiet reading, and much needed sleep. Together, the sisters laughed, unwound, and simply allowed themselves to be. This relaxing experience truly soothed the soul.
