🌍 Father’s Day 🐺

🌍 GAP Recycle Crew 🐺
You’re going to love this story! Mrs. Rosas, 6th grade IB Science and Design teacher, challenged her students to examine our school’s systems to identify strengths and needs. Once students had a complete analysis of their chosen system, they developed a proposal for an improvement.
One team, Cooper and Ian, reviewed our waste management system. They determined that our school could improve with recycling. With the support of their teacher and their IB Coordinator, they contacted the City of Phoenix to not only request more bins, but to also DOUBLE our recycling pick up days!
Ian and Cooper didn’t stop there! They realized this would be an extra burden on our incredible custodian team, so they recruited classmates to help. Together they created a schedule and assigned zones. They worked together to collect the bins from around campus!
BUT WAIT! There’s more! The team also recognized that people needed education on proper recycling. They appeared on morning announcements and posted information to help our community. Their action has had a beautiful impact on our community!

As an International Baccalaureate PYP and MYP school, we are committed to developing internationally minded learners who seek to understand diverse perspectives, appreciate the richness of different cultures, and contribute to a more peaceful and just world.
Juneteenth reminds us that learning from history strengthens our shared commitment to equity, respect, and belonging. Together, we celebrate the voices, contributions, and experiences that enrich our community and inspire us to take meaningful action.

Please help us celebrate another proud moment for our community! GAP recently earned the Silver Award from Healthy Arizona Workplace! Our wellness committee - Amanda De Leon, Shayleigh Fisher, Dianna Garcia, and Melody Hodges - plan and host regular events to bring our staff together for laughs and support.
