Happy Juneteenth!! ššæššæššæ

By Request ā¦I was asked to reshare my Blue Water Ancestral Altar that I created with the guiding of my Ancestors for Hoodoo Heritage Month 2 years ago.
With Juneteenth kicking off tomorrow I felt its most appropriate to bring this one back around. ššæššæššæ
The Blue Altarā¦
In Honour of Hoodoo Heritage Month I felt lead to share my Blue Altar. My Ancestors gave this design to me, but feel free to use it RESPECTFULLY if you like.
As this month wanes on, SOME may feel the strengthening, pull, and the awareness of The Ancestors has increased. I was sitting on my couch the other day minding my own business, when they showed me in my mind what they wanted me to do for them.
This Ancestor Altar is INSPIRED by a Boveda Espiritual, a practice found within Lucumi- Orisha and Palo- Congo traditions. This is NOT a traditional Boveda.
Indigo or Blue Water is used within Hoodoo and all the ATRās in various ways for cleansing, blessing, consecration, and offerings to spirits.
In HUDU it can be set out upon oneās Ancestor Altar to represent the waters of the ocean, which received the Spirits of the African Ancestors that were forcibly thrown overboard during the transportation of them into slavery.
The blue water is also used to drawn down their spirits. Prayers and communion with them is done here.
There are 9 Bowls here, as 9 is the number of The Ancestors in HUDU.
The White Candle is lit in the middle to give light, elevation , and strength to the Ancestral Spirits.
A small offering of Kananga Water is placed as an offering to help āCoolāand bring a sense of peace and comfort to the spirits.
This altar exudes a very sacred, and serene spirit. If you decide to set it up, Iām sure you will feel like you gave The Ancestors a great big hug, and they gave you one back as well!!

Continuing onā¦
āā¦.And from the start of the transatlantic slave trade, she (Mami Wata) has offered her tail to Black women in need of power. Like Oshunās iyami aje, the Conjure Women who invoked Mami Wata were considered powerful healers in both the physical and social realms of their communities.ā

These āBlack Folk Dollsā are VERY hard to find now, and if you do they cost a small fortune mostly because now they are considered stereotypical and racist.
BUT⦠IYKYK..
These Dolls are a Hoodoo Family.
The man has a mojo bag in his back pocket, and his wife is wearing a red bandanna head scarf. Wearing a red bandanna scarf is an old tradition in Hoodoo as a way to identify as a Rootworker.
I bought the man about 3 years ago and patiently held onto him until I found his family. By chance (or maybe not š) browsing EBay I found his wife and little boy.
Now that they are all together and found one another I can bring them to life!
So I will cut these out, and fill them with a base of raw cotton and other roots and herbs.
I will Conjure them, and give them a good home.
They deserve it..

People share their secrets when they feel they are being listened toā¦
Conjure is a Verb.
But itās also a method of extraction of information.
I learned the most from my Elders not by only what they told me, but what I heard them speak about. There were things I was allowed to listen to, and things I was not until a certain time. Then there were things I āoverheardā because I shut my mouth and acted busy and like I was NOT listening. Thats when I got the juicy jewels.. š
No one knew the Art of getting people to open up like Mamāzell Laveauā¦
As a successful hair dresser to the elite women in her society, she got those who sat in her chair cozy and comfortable with spilling all kinds of Tea..
The historical debate whether Marie Laveauās powers came from her Conjure or just knowing who to converse with never made sense to me.
I never saw the conflict between the two.
I know that Conjure works best the more you know about the person or situation you are trying to āworkā.
The more knowledge you have does not invalidate oneās spiritual powers. It makes one a more intelligent and informed practitioner.
In this card The Page of Waters, we learn how Marie Laveauās business fuelled her Conjure practice.
She created a space where women felt relaxed, heard, and safe. In this type of place secrets flow easily if you just know how to listen, but act like youāre notā¦

In other newsā¦.
Iāve worked at ASU for a few years when I first relocated to AZ. I clearly remember this beautiful historic home on campus, lovingly kept up, and full of memory.
This house has been owned by this man for many years. He is its owner, but from a spiritual perspective he is the caretaker of the Houseās Spirit.
What was offered to him to move the home from ASU he rejected. Good! They wanted to give him pennies on the dollar.
If I were him I would get some good old railroad spikes and nail the house down in the four corners of the yard. Then I would p**s all over the front porch to mark my territory.
Thatās how we do it in Hoodooā¦š
